As someone that's had a traumatic brain injury and a neck injury from a MTB crash in the past, I think it definitely helps, and if you can get it for a small upcharge on the cost of the similar non-MIPS model you should jump for it.

Bike bros. Now that ride season is almost here for me, what can I do about my sagging seatpost aside from losing weight because :fatty:?

Still wouldn't solve it when the seat is in the elevated position.

I can't clamp too tight on the seatpost collar. How can I keep it secure?

:iono: Mine slips down slightly, so I just reset it every ride.

I tighten the fuck outta my seatposts :iono:
Fiber grip paste would work.
If it's a quick release seatpost collar, remove the bolt, lube threads and cam, and reinstall. Just know you're effectively increasing the bolt torque when you do this so its easier to snap the bolt.
Or take the seatpost out, degrease it and the inside of the frame tube, reinstall.

I’m amazed I didn’t get a concussion in my last road race I did. Landed square on my head, helmet was crushed.

I replaced the helmet (Specialized Echelon) with the same exact one because it did it’s job so well.

A good helmet is invaluable.
I landed square on my head last year and shattered my Specialized Propero. Bought a new Specialized S3 to replace it. Good helmets. I think in that type impact a MIPS system would help drastically.

I'm still so puzzled over the Orbea ordeal.
It was too big and handled like :poop:. :iono: The thing was totally unrideable (for me). In 3 total rides on it I ran into a tree twice and was totally uncomfortable on it even when I wasn't hitting things.

I'll clean off the seatpost to see if that helps. If not I'll get some of that paste.

I don't have a quick release on it. Just an allen. Any sort of degreaser should work?

Nah you want lube or oil. Chain lube or assembly grease or something. No WD40 that will dry it out since it’s a solvent.

Use a degreaser or solvent on the post itself though.

I was talking about getting the existing grease off the seat post once I pull it off.

The chain lube is used on the seat post clamp threads?

Yeah that should work. Decrease the post and clean it. Pull the collar bolt out and lube it and then re assemble.

Really think this is the bike:

Seems like one hell of a ride for the money, and with 35mm stanchions, another 20mm of travel, boost spacing front and rear, plus 2.6" tires it'd be a bit more burly than the Fathom. Sent them a message to see if they expect to get another batch in stock any time soon.

Keep in mind you'll pay import tariffs on anything over $600 I think it is. So that's going to add like $180-200 onto the cost.
