Yeah I'm not seeing 4 rotors, 4 pads, $800 and :dillerman: in the same sentence.

So it was just for the front pads and rotors and the estimate was $725. :notbad: , I guess? :iono:

Go to FCP Euro and spec the OEM parts and find out?

Front pads and rotors are probably $400-500 in OEM parts at retail prices so yeah that's quite fair.

My local Mazda :dillerman: tried to get almost $2k for the same thing, I told him to go to hell. Dude saw someone with painted nails and thought he'd hit the jackpot... Little did he know, the lesbians are pretty good with DIY.

that's insanity.

front brakes only are a 150 max thing. I think i did all 4 corners on the volt with coated (so they dont rust as bad) rotors for under 200.

Rock auto spot checking premium pads are 50 tops, rotors 50-75 each, kits (not necessary IMHO) available for looks like ~200-300.

If its a DD and your rotors aint scratched and your brakes aint pulsing just get padsand DIY man. 800 is hwy fucking robbery. I hate to see even a liberal shithead like you waste that kind of money.

Looks like around $350-$375 on their site.

Yep. I'll get it done next year. They were just giving me a heads up of what I'll probably need next year. Just a bit :| since my Mk6 didn't need any brake work in 9+ years, though what the SA (and iTrude) said about PP brakes being different, specifically having higher metallic content may be true as I get surface rust on the rotors immediately after even a light rain or mist. That never happened to that degree on the Mk6.

I'll probably need :225: 's as well. They quoted $1100 for a set but didn't specify what brand, but at least that'll give me something to shop and compare against when the time comes. I usually get my tars from Discount Tire but it'll be interesting to see how competitive the :dillerman: will be.

I guess that's alright. Reasonable enough for a :dillerman: job. I mean I'd still do it myself, it's about 45 min per side and a couple of hundred dollars in my pocket.

I respect that, but I HATE bleeding brakes and I haven't done any brake work in literally decades so I'm good with paying a couple hours of labor to have it done right the first time with a warranty on the work. :like:

They bleeding the brakes for that quote? :yikes: I hate bleeding brakes also... :bs: but usually that's not part of a "brake job" unless they separately charge for it.

you assume wrong for just a pad and rotor change.

With the quickjack, air impact wrench and motive power bleeder brake bleeding is EZ af, my ex brother in law even gave me an extra set of Snap On line wrenches which are nice to avoid stripping the bleeder nipples. I'm a brake bleeding machine. All my fluid is as clear as a six pack piss.

Yeah the “brake job” won’t have anything to do with fluid, pad/rotor replacement is pretty easy but the rate doesn’t seem too terrible, typical :dillerman: (hence why I DIY).

I would look at the pads and rotors for yourself at least, seems unlikely that the rotors would really need to be replaced.

Your brakes probably wear faster because they are Golf R brakes versus the bullshit we got in the MK6.

I was around mid 40’s when I got mine handled. I did all 4 corners but not necessary. Fronts wear before rears.
Thanks. SA told me :dat: , too. Do you :member: :wat: brakes and rotors at all 4 corners cost you?
Sorry I just saw this, I got them through Z-I-L-L-O-N and had my indy shop mechanic install them for me. All 4 corners were a $750 affair (parts & labor). Dealer wanted $1200 for front axle lol.
