This is the most insidious part. It's very possible he raped that girl. Simply by retelling it the way he did but also trying to "own" it he makes it worse, not better.

yes..... and i know this sounds like victim blaming but here it goes:

if hes lying and he did rape that young woman, then she had some responsibility to properly report it if she wanted to hold him accountable for that violation.

I get there are reasons why a woman might not do this, but those are decisions she has to live with as well as part of her healing process.

And it seems like she has probably healed from this incident. It happened in college and she spoke about it then and now he brings it up 30 years later? That's douchey.

It could have happened exactly as he described it in his head and totally different in hers. Very common in criminal cases.

I had an interesting conversation with a few females that have some relatively justified concerns over a male we all work with recently. None of them felt like it was any good to say anything because “he’s not famous, so what’s it matter.” And all I could think is “well, what does it?”

Now they’re gonna use everything as an excuse. It’s stupid.

Whatever doe. It’s a bunch of BS. Takes away legitimacy from the ACTUAL cases of rape/assault.

Man that makes me sad. I mean in your industry there are not people like me to solve these problems but I hate to see people (regardless of gender or circumstance) that have been victimized to say :meh:

We are at a scandalous state where those that don’t qualify as such are being blown out of proportion at the cost of legitimate incidents being pushed under the rug.

It has definitely become a witch hunt.

Now all relationships will require contracts ahead of time.

Sounds like a combination of a bad date, misreading of non verbal cues, and not speaking up enough or giving strong enough cues. I tried not to immediately be put off at the top of the accuser's story since it starts with her being tipsy and that giving her confidence to approach Ansari. To me, that speaks of her putting him on a pedestal as a celeb and expecting some dreamland gentlemanly behavior. Granted, he took some missteps - he should have completely shut down any physical advances after she collects herself in the bathroom and it appears he still tested the waters. He's guilty of being a little creepy and pushy, but not sexual assault IMHO.

I might change my mind if numerous women came forward and said nah, he's a habitual pushy asshole and kept going even after I clearly said "stop" but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Duel. Germany only allows it if you apply before their first birthday at the consulate.

My wife isn't a citizen of the US. Germany won't allow that unless you have a very good reason for dual citizenship. She could give up her German citizenship and become a US but we don't want that.
