I did, and I will add this to the discussion, having done some of these investigations and fired people myself.
This is for Troy, to give some perspective that will make sense considering his perspective of the corporate/business/etc world.
There is a verrrrry strong selfish motivation for a company to make sure that the investigation is done well and there is grounds for termination. If they muck up in any way it WILL get dredged up in court when that employee inevitably takes them there for unemployment, if nothing else.
