Yeah if I wind up buying one, I’ll definitely hit him up to see what he sees up there. Fly up to get it, buy him some beer and food and then make a nice weekend of a drive back down here.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:03 pmGo to the Jeep thread, he was pimping a Rubicon with power windows and lots of other shit for the same price. Say what you want to say, Maximillian has located the real deal of FCA dealerships.

Been building an Alexa skill for one of our brands and been going back and forth on bugs and approval from Amazon for a few months; it's a complex skill. Finally approved today with the official release and PR shit coming soon.

With the Amazon Echo, you can turn on "skills". As an example, you can turn on the "Jeopardy" skill. Someone or some entity developed this skill to work with the Echo/Alexa. Alexa is what you say to have the device start listening to you. So you say, "Alexa, play Jeopardy". The "skill" is now activated. Each day it will ask you 6 Jeopardy questions. You have to answer in a question form, just like the show. After you answer each question, it tells you if you were wrong or not, and what the correct answer is. At the end, it tells you the total of how many questions you got right.wap wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:33 pmI don't really understand this post but for youstripethree wrote: ↑Fri Oct 13, 2017 2:29 pm Been building an Alexa skill for one of our brands and been going back and forth on bugs and approval from Amazon for a few months; it's a complex skill. Another skill is to keep a shopping list for you when you want to add to it.
Think of a skill as an "app" for your phone, except there's nothing physical to see. It just listens and reacts to preset commands and functions. Maybe on the new Echoes which have screens you can see some sort of visual interface, not sure.

Neither of you are at fault in the sense that you did something fucked up, but neither of you were direct with what you wanted, leading to a miscommunication, frustration, and now hard feelings. You're still friends.

We have an Amazon Fire Stick so we have some limited Alexa capabilities but I wasn't aware that there were other "skills" that can be activated.

Going to apply for a Master's program that begins Fall 2018 so I can ensure I have a fallback plan if I can't get to where I want to be by August 2018.

Yeah, there is something like 16k skills right now. You can enable some via voice but sometimes it is easier to browse the Alexa app and enable them that way. Hopefully when this one goes live it'll have some prominent banner coverage in the Alexa app & marketplace.
