Yeah they used to have awesome cloth recarbros, but not in the past decade or so in murica.
Yup. They were not uncommon in the 80's. IIRC my 'Rocco had 'em and they were a perfect fit for me. Would probably have fit you great, too. Very basic as far as adjustments, but when the basic shape is right you don't need a million direction adjustment capability, imo.

Speaking of convertibles being a PITA, I found a pin hole in my top last night and they're calling for 100% thunderstorms during autox this weekend... What's the best way to repair the hole (vinyl top, not cloth)?

I used RTV from the inside. Used those leather repair kits for the outside

Not my specific car, but same year with same mods:

Such added lightness. Much 43/57% distribution. :stig:

Finally got around to changing the leaking valve cover gasket and did spark plugs while I was in there, will be nice to not be paranoid about oil levels anymore. Image

FWIW
I bought mine with 113k miles, it's at 167 now, and has never burned enough oil to even warrant checking between changes.
I still do, but I've yet to see any consumption.

My cover seeps some towards the back, but I've heard of it leaking worse.
Did you replace the IM gasket? I did that, and it plugged up a leak causing the engine to idle rough.

I didn't touch the IM, just did the valve cover and spark plugs. Didn't notice any idle change. Mine leaks and/or burns enough that I have had to add oil to it between changes, so hopefully this takes care of it. Supposedly the 03+ engines don't burn oil like the earlier ones.

Autox in the rain today was fun as hell. I won ES by .027 over one of the fastest guys in the country, was 2nd overall in PAX behind a Focus RS and IIRC even got 3rd in raw time. The RS AWD system was killer in the rain. 5/7 would run in the rain again.

Dat Focus RS seemed like it ran the same in the wet as it does in the dry. Such fancy AWD gizmos.

Made a quick set of passes with the 3M headlight restoration kit I'd bought 3 years ago and never tried... it's not great but looks way better than it did before. Gotta do the other side now and clay/polish the rest of the car.ImageImage

:dat:

Well worth the $15 or whatever it cost for the kit. They went from 0/7 to 3/7. I think I could do a much better job doing it again and taking some more time too, maybe next year.

Can't compare like dat :doe:

You actually know what the fuck you're doing and care more about the results with both the detailing and the photography. You could have used some barbed wire and an old toothbrush, then took photos, edited them, and posted them up with some artsy description and hashtags and it would not only look better than what I did but also take you less time than it took me to just put the tape down around mine.

You're a wizard. I'm a :derp:

It took me 2-3 full hours to do a half-assed job on both lights. A mediocre job would have taken 8. A good job? I couldn't do that with infinite time.
