That's reasonable... I've regretted colors on most of my cars, it's not something you can really change and you'll always notice and think about.Johnny_P wrote:I washed it and lubed it. Shame about the Transition Scouts. That bike sounded perfect, really, and had the killer looks to back it up. Oh well. I really am not interested in spending $4k on something I can't even verify the fit on. And with how different all the rear suspensions are... it really changes the character of the bike, so being able to try it out is kind of key.
I really don't like the paint jobs on the Giants. That's what is holding me back on buying them. Just hate the way they look. When I bought my current bike it was bright ass red. I thought it looked horrible but I got a deal on it because it was a leftover and said fuck it. I was MUCH happier once the frame cracked and was replaced with the gloss black one, even though absolutely nothing changed about how the bike rode.
When I bought my Cervelo I thought the Specialized Tarmac actually rode slightly better and was like $300 cheaper or something. I bought the Cervelo because I preferred the paint job on it to the gloss black and (at that time) decal-ridden Tarmac that said "Specialized" in roughly 8 different places on the frame.

Hans, Gberg, [user not found], Fledonfoot and his wife, and a few others met up at Nockamixon yesterday for some braps. Much fun was had.
Nobody ate shit, and my wheel didn't fall apart Was a much needed braptoberfest for just about everyone there. Nox is hilariously fun. Lots of flow trails and pump sections. One trail was damn near a pump track, didn't really need to pedal for a lot of it. And since it was #senditsunday we stopped and threw in some jumps and features for good measure.

The wife bit it hard on South Park after the second rock garden towards the end.
She thinks she had a shitty ride yesterday and got super worked up about it a few times throughout the ride. I think she psyches herself out of it quickly @ Nox - because we drive so far she demands herself to have a "good" ride and gets upset quickly. There were several spots where she got hung up, and ended up getting off the bike and throwing it out of frustration... I think she still gets intimidated when riding in bigger groups. She got upset because she felt she was holding me up because I wanted to ride behind/with her and make sure she was ok.
I think she did well. Nox isn't easy when you're a beginner... especially when you got up at 3am and worked a 9 hour shift, sat in the car for an hour and a half and didn't really have a solid lunch.

I'm bummed I didn't get to try out any of the PA riding, and work ended up taking priority. Maybe next time I can try to stay the weekend for a group ride.

Balls. I didn't realize she took a spill. I thought she was doing great, she rode a lot of it. I mean I was dead tired after yesterday's ride and she did the entire loop with us.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:21 amThe wife bit it hard on South Park after the second rock garden towards the end.

Blue book says this thing should be ~$1,400. Would seem like a nice choice for that price. Toss on a dropper and shred.

Pretty awesome that she'll ride with you at all. I bought my wife a Trek FX hybrid a couple years ago and can barely get her to ride to the coffee shop with me. She's not a terrible athlete, she played softball all up through high school I'd give her a 3.5-4/7 on the coordination scale in most regards, but holy hell she's terrible on a bike.fledonfoot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2017 9:21 amThe wife bit it hard on South Park after the second rock garden towards the end.

It could be worse... my buddy who I used to ride with regularly bought a MTB for his wife, second or third time out, she fell and broke her collarbone, and now it seems like he can barely get out and ride anymore .[user not found] wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 10:01 amcoogles wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 9:33 am

Everyone knows about the MTB I've built for my wife to never ride.
Basically, she's all that mountain biking is safe now, so he is given hell about it constantly and his riding has dipped by at least 50% because of that.

After I got hurt twice in 4 rides my wife was the same way, but , I went to demo bikes just a couple weeks later anyway. She hasn't given me too much grief about wanting another bike, but she definitely worries about me while I'm out riding. Probably for good reason.

Weather is finally to shitty to ride and it's been good for my mental health. No longer shopping online for bikes every single day. Writing 100 times on the chalkboard -
"I can make it until spring. I can make it until spring. I can make it until spring. I can make it until spring. I can make it until spring..."

Totally would, but almost all of the '17s I'd be interested are gone now. No one is discounting on the '18s they're just now getting in. Indy Cycle Specialist has/had an alloy 2017 Anthem SX I was considering before I rode the Trance, then decided I'd just wait for BGI's spring sale to pick up a Trance in March. Everything goes on sale for 15% off, and it's not like I'm going to get much riding in between now and then.

anyone want a 'muricabike for $600? I love the paint job and this is back when they were actually made in USA. Maybe a little expensive? But these don't pop up often.

Cool bikes, I was just a little late getting one of the last USA-made CAAD9s before I bought my CAAD10.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2017 10:09 am https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik ... 35507.html

These bikes seem to have a really weird market. Just a CAAD10 frameset? $650 on CL or fleaBay all day long. Complete bike for $700? Nobody wants it.
