OEM hitch retrofit?fledonfoot wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 7:50 pm Spent the afternoon with [user not found] pulling the hipster heep apart to install the tow hitch.
Hitch retrofit kit I bought was 5/7 legit... just had to pull the back of the truck apart. A lot.
Yeah, didn’t want to do a Curt hitch and lose ground clearance.Apex wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 8:22 pmOEM hitch retrofit?fledonfoot wrote: ↑Sun Apr 22, 2018 7:50 pm Spent the afternoon with [user not found] pulling the hipster heep apart to install the tow hitch.

Found a company that put together a retrofit kit for $400 (now $600) that has the OEM rear bumper bar w/ receiver, OEM trim bezel, hardware, detailed instructions and a template to cut the OEM bumper cover to make it all work. Even came with extra clips to replace the ones they know you’re going to break.
I skipped on the wiring. Don’t ever plan on towing with it... it’s just for the bike rack.

No, that's why I was so
Guy has a vapebro'd last gen STI in pearl white with mag blue wheels and green waxables. Slightly older guy too, I'd say 40-ish.
Nothing makes sense.

I always just use the tires or open the door and use the door frame to stand on.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:29 amEven guys like myself would need a step stool to throw a bike on the roof, the Renegade sits pretty tall and upright.
Ehhh...
Throwing my ~28 lb hardtail on top of my friend's Impreza wagon was a little in and of itself. Let alone adding 8" or whatever to the roof height. Would be difficult, you'd certainly need to step up into the door jamb to do it. Quite a bit easier to plop it onto a rear rack. I prefer roof racks because I think it's safer for the bike as long as you don't have a garage or low clearance to deal with, but I totally understand the reason to do the hitch on a taller vehicle.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 7:29 amEven guys like myself would need a step stool to throw a bike on the roof, the Renegade sits pretty tall and upright.
Wringing a car out everywhere is quite fun. I can't redline my STI much anywhere. It's quite a bit faster than my GTI was, which I took to redline constantly on the bigger boulevards in the city.D Griff wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 8:33 amEhhh...
I'm going to take the middle ground on this one.
A sucks to drive around in a city, no ground clearance, massive turning radius, wide as hell and difficult to park due to not being able to see the corners of the car.
I view it like this, a rating in fun factors:
City/in town driving fun: Miata 5/7, 2/7
Autox: Miata 5/7, 4/7
Canyon carving/back road cruising: Miata 4/7, 5/7
Track: I haven't tracked a Miata (but likely 5/7 with mods needed though), 6/7 stock, 7/7 with modz
Yep that is fab![user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Apr 23, 2018 9:59 am This is awesome: https://www.autoblog.com/2018/04/20/mem ... de-7310886

The new Vantage looks like it could easily be the new Supra. I hate it.
