yeah but there are some vendors slinging great deals on shox alone.

The rest of the suspension is just as important. Great shocks on a shitty lift will be disappointing.

I believe it was a casting change with a head.
Can't remember, but my friend i've worked with forever had a bad one and had to do a repair.

Well whatever they did it must've worked, judging by the sample size of 1 that is my buddy's 208,000 mile example.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 1:31 am I believe it was a casting change with a head.

This one is probably what Id go with, but deep down I want dual reservoirs for maximum crawlage.

There was a change in the casting supplier in 00. They discovered and fixed it in 02. So 00-02 can be problems.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 1:31 am I believe it was a casting change with a head.

The good news is it's easy to find out if a head has been replaced by looking down the oil cap. Many have been, so I would have no hesitation to buy one with the head replaced.

You will never ever need dual reservoirs unless you go wheeling outside of LA.dubshow wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 10:11 am This one is probably what Id go with, but deep down I want dual reservoirs for maximum crawlage.

That is a 5/7 lift kit, doe. I remember driving a Jeep with that when it came out. Quite impressive.
I would also seriously consider the AEV DualSport XT for a bit less:

No fox shocks, but AEV designs some fantastic stuff. The progressive rate springs are a really nice touch.

So, I went out to the Jeep last night to go get gas for the wife. Start it up and had a CEL.
Came back inside and asked if she had noticed it... "Yeah, it's been on for about a week" she says in a quiet tone and kind of sheepishly...
Busted out the OBD2 dongle and read the code, p0456, EVAP System Small Leak.
Couple possible common fixes: gas cap, or more likely: there is a plastic hose for the EVAP system that Jeep routes right next to the battery and it often develops a small pin hole.
I still have 2 months of bumper to bumper warranty left, so I'm just going to use it while I debate buying the Jeep extended warranty. $2500 for a lifetime warranty with $100 deductible or $3200 for a lifetime with $0 deductible...

I think it was actually 99. But the TJ used the older 4.0 While the xjs got the “newer” one.. it’s a shame really since 99-01 xjs are the best in terms of everything else and they have a fked up head.Detroit wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2018 11:19 amThere was a change in the casting supplier in 00. Trying to be nice. You know...
I actually use that time to drive it and make sure something isn't going on with it, since she clearly wouldn't notice something like a whine from the diffs or transmission if she can't remember to tell me about the CEL on the dash.
