I had a decent year and hit 11 of 12 monthly top tier CSI performance bonuses. I'll be right around $75k this year. A large shop with a decent customer base should have you making $60-80+.
I get no salary and take a $600/wk draw against my commission. I'm paid either 7, 9 or 10.5% off my gross profit after discounts and fuckups, depending on where my 3 month CSI average ends up.
Pay plans vary from dealer to dealer. Some pay off the shop total, some off individual writer's work/hours sold. Some (like mine) can base the pay off CSI surveys so a bad survey (bad is considered anything under 90.5% average) can affect me to the tune of $1200-1800 a month.
Getting to the point where you're on the main shop side of things is the harder part, though. It took me 2-3 years of working in express maintenance and accessory sales to prove myself making $40k to get where I am now.
It's hard to end up on the main shop side with no experience unless you know an owner or service director.

Might get you in if a position is open, but you'd be expected to be pretty turnkey.
Also, don't do this because you "like cars" and you're an enthusiast. You need a high tolerance for people's whiny bullshit.
Enjoy the game. Don't let these "sportsball" guys run you down.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.
My director told me to work from home tomorrow half day.

Sweet!
Was a nice surprise. He usually wants people in the office.

You should on the clock.
Wouldn't be the first time.
And not when working at home.

DFD. The forum where everybody makes the same choices and then tells anybody trying to join the club that they are the stupidest motherfucker to ever walk the earth.
