For me, I mossssssstly side with Shapiro on the topic where because I don't address a trans person how they prefer that I'm a horrible person invading on their identity. His interaction with the trans guy in the interview was a bit rude, coming across saying "what are your genetics?". I mean you had to know that that was kind of a hot button thing to say so he was warranted a little bit of criticism for it, but not a threat.
I've had an instance with a friend's band we played with a while back where I wanted to go talk to the bass player about a pedal that I saw on his/her pedalboard after a gig, and I had zero clue how the hell to address this dude. He was obviously a guy, but was wearing a bralet kind of top.
I don't really even know how I'd react to him wanting to correct me if I called him a guy instead of a girl to his face. I mean shit, I'll call you whatever you want, but like he said, if you wanna join the boy scouts and you're not a boy, then there's a problem.

You recognize that these are two different scenarios though, right? Not knowing how someone wants to be addressed and fearing that you will get it wrong is a real concern but very different than purposefully calling someone something that you know they will find offensive.

In the first scenario, there shouldn't be a problem if the person you are addressing handles it with compassion and empathy. I actually had this happen where someone I hadn't seen in a while was in the process of transitioning from male to female. She was out amongst friends as transgender but I did not know since I'd moved out of state, I hadn't seen the group in a long time, and it was early on so she still looked like the person I knew as male minus long hair. When she realized I did not know, she sat down next to me and privately told me her story. Didn't judge or disparage me for not knowing.

They work fine all over Europe. They've existed there for decades and they are not thought twice about. I've used plenty and it's :whocares: Every urinal and every toilet is in a little room with floor to ceiling walls and door, and sinks are in a large common room. NBD at all.

AT work we use the women's bathroom for #2s. We call it "The Palace".
Cuz we only have 1 woman working here and we're 6 guys.
I'm sure she really appreciates that.

I like that idea if they're built like that. Not a fucking stall with a door that leaves a big gap, not a stall where the door doesn't lock, and not a stall that's easily accessible for some piece of shit asshole spying on some poor girl. It happens a lot more than you think. Until then you gotta keep 'em separated (hey!)
There was an operator in the 90s who was dressing like a girl and taking pictures out here. got arrested. People are slimy fucks. :dislike: :dislike:

Oh for sure. That's why I pointed out how they're configured in Europe. Floor to ceiling walls and doors is the only way to do it. No mere stalls with huge gaps top and bottom. :disgust:

While I wish Tillerson had outright said "yeah I fucking said it" instead of his non-denial sidestep when asked if he did call Trump a "fucking moron", that's an impossible ask. Still, :bravo:, because based on his statement, I bet he fucking said it and has no regrets about it.

“Hey, what kind of pedal is that?” :iono:

Followed up with “hi, I’m Steve”. You’d probably get a name back and be fine.

And if that name is not gender-specific then just continue to address the person by name and don't worry about the rest.

it's too late though, the party will get fucking clobbered in the midterms and the dems will draft articles of impeachment on Jan 21 2019. If fucknuts does something stupid enough between now and them they might even get him removed from office.

They need more than charges of being an idiot.
Also, after Trump got elected, I learned not to understand the blind loyalty of GOP voters.

They're like addicts, addicted to their faulty memory of a time "When American was great"
They're return to the teet of 'conservative values' that make them feel good, the same way a heroin addict returns to the needle.

Unfortunately both yield the same result, total ruin.

Grab a seat man, we got front row tickets to the destruction of an empire.

Yea but the progressive/liberal alternative is just as (IMHO more) destructive.

The fucking gop preaches conservative values and fiscal responsibility but when they get the keys to the empire we go further into debt.

the fucking dems preach equality and social welfare and expand government scope and complexity.

The real issue is they don't have any real meaningful difference in fiscal policy and we've been riding the financial fail train since Nixon, at least.

They also been writing all the laws to make them the only 2 games in town so to speak, what we really need is good 3rd and 4th options for congress. And we 1000% fucking percent need to do away with direct election of senators.
