So is it the the general consensus that the T1 is a giant step back? What exactly is it that sucks ass about this truck?

Somehow, the interior is straight out of a K2...but manages to drive/ride quite a bit worse despite an "all new platform" and a bunch of weight savings.
I loved my K2, that's the modern GM truck to get IMO.

I have noticed that when I got inside GM and SUV's at the auto show. Their interior almost seems like they never changed. The only GM car that really appealed to me is the Camaro and the Silverado. Granted I haven't driven any GM product older than a 2013 Impala classic (previous gen) as a rental which was absolutely
Also as someone who lived in a household with fords, I have experienced some sort of built quality issues and paint bubbles. My dad's 2011 expedition had it on the trunk only a couple years later, and now on my dads 2016 Explorer. Also mustang with their rear windshield to be misaligned often, and perhaps a few more.
My vote goes for cummins.
