Made eggs benedict for Michelle's birthday breakfast this morning. JFC I never knew how fatty Holandaise sauce is.. Just egg yolks, butter, and some lemon juice. It's also a pain in the ass to make with the constant whisking and taking it on and off the heat... Going into it I was thinking if it turned out good it could be something that I make randomly on the weekends to surprise her since she loves it so much, but after making it... :nope: that's a once-a-year on your birthday meal that I'm making her.

Making it once a year makes it that much more special. I'm a healthy eater 90% of the time, but I know I'm cooking a special dinner, I'm throwing down with some butter and cream.

:word: Made that for breakfast and gonna go to some :waxer: butcher and grab some steaks to cook up for dinner.

Nailed her birthday present too. She'd been complaining about needing a new bag for travelling. I like leather bags, so I'd been looking at some for her, but then I knew I would just be buying her what I want rather than what she wanted.. Had a thought to check this brand that she like from over in England (she has family there and goes somewhat frequently). Saw a bag that I thought had a cool print on it and ordered it. Apparently she'd almost bought the exact bag when she was over in their store back in July. Same print and everything. She had to call her mom to ask if she'd helped me pick it out since she was there with her when she was shopping. Mom didn't help me at all. :fuckyeah:

I'd almost gone with a different print/pattern too, then switched to this one at the last minute before finishing the order. 5/7 decision. First birthday I'm celebrating with her, so good to know that I'm decent at choosing gifts that she'll like/appreciate.

Went by a :waxer: butcher and grabbed some steaks. Bone in ribeye. Minced some garlic and rosemary and rubbed that on the steak with some salt. Cooked to a nice medium-rare. So good. Michelle loved it.

I thought that the first time too, but I've made em a few times and the last time it didn't seem like such a hassle.
