About a month ago I pieced together my first rig. I'm told it's nothing too special.

IDK the first thing about computers, so i bought all the pieces on a buddy's recommendation.

Specs are as follows:
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor
XFX RX 570 4GB GDDR5 RS XXX Edition
Gigabyte B450M DS3H (AMD Ryzen AM4/M.2/HMDI/DVI/USB 3.1/DDR4/Micro ATX/Motherboard)
Thermaltake Smart 500W
Samsung 860 QVO 1TB Solid State Drive
2x 8GB 3200MHZ DDR4

I mostly use the computer for work, but play a few games pretty often. My CPU at full Cheech is running about 85-87° C.I asked my buddy, and he said extra fans would be good, but completely optional.
Any input? should I get more fans just to be safe? If so, do I need fan controllers and all that jazz?

Youre welcome. All is right in the world.

I need computer help.

For some reason my computer has become exceptionally slow. It’s also using an ungodly amount of cpu when I’m trying to game or work on 3D prints. I mean 30% minimum usage all the way to 100%.

What could be causing this? I’ve still got storage space? I wouldn’t say I’m doing anything crazy. Even chrome will push my usage into the 30s.

I’ve tried closing programs while I work. But there is clearly something wrong. Computer will sit at 2% until I start working. Then it jumps up super high. Virus scans show nothing. I am not computer savvy. I need this thing to work.

Looks good. Is the cooler that can with the ryzen not sufficient?

Thanks M8!

GPU is getting a little hotter than I'd like it to. I've seen it hit 90° C a few times this week. I try and shut er down when it gets to 89°C. I know almost nothing about PCs, so I'm not sure what would suffice.

I'm thinking about finally upgrading my CPU that I was planning to upgrade 3 years ago, it seems that i5 prices have at least come down finally. i7 is still :fullretard: but I can grab an i5-6500 for $80 now.

I'm rocking a dual core pentium G4560 and the low memory version of the GTX 1060 (3 GB). It's "fine" for single monitor 1080p stuff but the quad core should be a significant improvement. Annoyingly a used i7-6700 is still like $200, I was hoping to pick one up for half that two years ago.

What’s a decent entry gaming mouse with USB-C? I don’t care for wireless, but as long as battery life is decent I’m open to it.

I don’t need a shit ton of special buttons, I’ll be playing pretty simple games like League of Legends.

Thank you sir. Looks like USB A. I should be able to just get an A to C adapter to plug it into my laptop, yeah?

Yeah, an adapter should be fine.

So I did end up grabbing that i5, found a 6600 for about the same price as the 6500's. On paper it should only be a tiny upgrade over the G4560 but in reality everything is waaaaaaaay faster/smoother. It's like a whole new PC for all of $100. 4 core 4 thread >> 2 core 4 thread at the same clock speeds in 2020, even in general desktop use it's noticeably quicker.

:impressive:

I'd like to get a pair of 27" monitors to replace my pair of 23's, with my eyesight getting worse I'm finding the smaller screen harder to work on.

I like the single curved. If I were to WFH long term, I'd get two. Two monitors is excellent for CAD.

GPU temps have been waaay to hot. like 88-91°C.
Picked up 3 120mm Noctua fans and a fan controller. 2 intake and one exhaust( as pictured below.
Image

with the fans at full Cheech temps don't change a bit. If anything they got worse, as the temps stay almost exclusively at 90°C. :ayfkm:
picked up some thermal paste in hopes that will alleviate some of the heat...

But anyways, what should be my next graphics card when this all fails?
XFX RX 570 4GB is current

Crazy that it's getting to 90c, the most I've had mine up to was maybe 85* and it's target temp is 83* and 59 at idle. I've got the 980Ti though which is now 5 god damn years old. O_O

I had a buddy replace the thermal paste on my GPU. Didn't grab a pic, but more than half the card was completely BARE with no paste on it!!!!!!!!

I also put a 140mm intake fan in the case as well. Rdr2, GTFO, and my other more graphically intense games are right about 80-84° while my other games barely get the mid-70s. :word:

PC parts seem to have gone through the roof. 2600 was 180+ last I checked.
