Dat ain't gonna help with neck-snapping whiplash, doe. The rear end was likely not engineered to crumple like modern cars so a lot of the impact G's would transmit to your spine.

Far less dangerous than being on a bike. And the Bel Air is never going to be a DD, just a weekend cruiser. Far less likely to get creamed by a Nigerian late for collecting his State sponsored benis.

And air bags, and 40 years of modern tech.... But that's the trade off. It will never be as safe as a modern car.
Shitty brakes, shitty handling, shitty steering etc.
It is more dangerous without a doubt... but that's not the point right?
Also no cats, so you're breathing in cancer... but... it is what it is. It is kind of like driving an art deco masterpiece down the road.... (30-50s caddys). Can't really compare that to anything else.

I wonder if those old cars will just be made illegal on public roads some day, limited to car shows, etc.

There's too few of them to be outlawed at this point. Their only threat is the ban of manual driving. Which may happen in our lifetimes.

I'd rather walk or hobble away from the Malibu.[user not found] wrote:
I was just thinking of a minor rear ender and picturing said dummie's head flex back at the upper neck in a way that only a Russian stripper can do. That in itself makes me think. This is just a way to go.

That's just how it goes but I guess you just have to be ultra aware of your surroundings. At the end of the day you're still in a 3500-4500lb iron throne. Unless it is a high-speed accident you should be "ok"Tarspin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2017 6:29 pmThat texting at the wheel teenager taking their dad's whip for a cruise.max225 wrote:
