Jefe, I actually said over dinner last night "How does jefe eat chicken noodle soup!? It always has egg noodles!"

I end up using boxed pasta. Sad but true.

I've made chicken noodle soup the last couple years but haven't been happy with the broth flavor. Quick, send me your Travis.

1 whole chicken broken down into thighs, legs, breast, and wings - leave the bones in, reserve the backbone if you desire
1/2 yellow onion
2 carrots
2-3 celery stalks
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon dry parsley flakes
3-4 big pinches of sea salt (more or less to taste)
1/2 teaspoon (or more to taste) of ground white pepper
1/4 teaspoon turmeric

Place chicken pieces into large pot and cover w/ 3-4 qts of water. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer and skim off the gray scum that floats to the surface. Cover and simmer for 30 min

Remove chicken pieces and set aside to cool. Keep the pot on a low simmer uncovered and dice all vegetables and set aside.

When the chicken is cool enough to handle, discard the skin and pull the meat from the bones. Return the bones to the pot. Cover and simmer for 45 min.

Remove bones from pot, pull any meat that wasn’t removed in step 2. Discard bones.

Add diced vegetables, salt and spices. Simmer, uncovered, until vegetables are just tender - onions will sink and becomes translucent - about 10 min. Return shredded chicken and any juices back to the pot. Simmer for another 5-10. Taste and adjust season. You would add noodles that this point and cook until done.

For a thicker broth, make a slurry of flour and water and add to the simmering broth. Simmer for a minute or two and remove from heat. It’ll thicken as it cools.

I need to brag on Zilch for a second. He is such a broth and sauce master. He frequently makes stock from scratch. The broth for this tonight was so damn good. The house smells delicious.

Mrs. is great with home made stock, too, chicken and turkey. It's really key to :fuckyeah: soup.

I still want to know how the fuck you guys have time to be perfect about everything every fucking day like this... Do you only pretend to have jobs and actually work on pinshit projects 24/7? :wtf:

Obviously hiring a maid and having no kids or pets helps, but you still are doing epic pinshit stuff what seems like every fucking day. Do you only sleep 2-3 hours a night like our resident :waxer: claims he does? Best I can do is keeping the house from being a total disaster - I wouldn't allow a camera on our property at this point, it would be embarrassing compared to any DFD member's place.
Troy just went full troy over a well framed photo with an instagram filter.

No, No, No..

Everything is perfect outside of the staged area of the picture. There is not a speck of dust in the house and everything is in its place within 30 nanometers.

Nah, go the other direction. Post details on your new home lighting "studio" set up specifically for taking pinshit food pics.

Thanks for the recipe 4zilch, now I have a shopping list this evening.

Nice! Good soup is awesome on cold days. Lisa made a pot roast the other day and I've been picking my way through it. 5/7 with the snow and cold.

She owns her company as well. It's not easy but we make it work. We've been considering getting a cleaning service for mopping, dusting, etc.

If you can swing it financially it's really a great convenience.

It's tough for frugal people with no kids or pets to justify, particularly if one of them is at home. :mahtroy: .
You have the dog though, and dogs are a mess, and you both leave the house during the day. Another justification for a cleaning person is relationship quality improvement.....
If you have any issues where one of you thinks the other is a bit of a slob, these issues get solved with having OP clean.

The two best checks I write are to our house cleaner and my accountant.
