It might be unique to Michigan, but Corvettes have been like Lambos here in terms of status and desirability. So many people bought them and stashed them away early on in hopes they'd be worth something someday. Now those dudes are too old, and the cars have sat too long, and they're stuck.
I’d argue that makes corvettes more like civics though. They have been attainable by the “average man” for a long time. thing for the second/third/fourth owners is that because they aren't terribly expensive or rare, you can actually drive the damn things NFG.
