It took 20 years to get to go visit once in 2018 and it was the best time of my life. I cried when I finally made it. I cried when I had to leave.

Look at the bright side of this. You guys didn't buy a house up there. So it's really quite a bit less doom and gloom than it could have been.troyguitar wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 7:48 pmFuck. This. Place.CaleDeRoo wrote:

Is your lady on LinkedIn? Might be worth signing up and building a network. I get unsolicited messages all the time from recruiters on that site. You could also talk with a recruiting agency that works in/around Charlotte area. You might even find one that works with Corning and maybe their company portfolio is large enough that they work with other companies around Charlotte as well.
I applied to a biochem company. Don't know anyone that works there. 5 mins poking around the company employees on linkedin and I found I have common contacts with a college friend. Emailed one of them, she helped facilitate an email exchange of resumes. Will it lead to anything? Nobody knows. But it damn sure didn't hurt anything to try.

Even better. I've always wanted this type of thing for my friend's and I. A few brand new 2bd 2bth mobiles, big communal shop, dirt track with a bunch of karts and street stocks etc
I definitely do like civilization, hence why we paid so much for a tiny house, all for the pursuit of living close to shit that involves other people. I think a lot of DFDers could benefit from thinking more about the "it's hard to hate people up close" ethos. IMO, most people are actually great if you take the time to get to know them. Some are still terrible for suretroyguitar wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:52 pmBut none of you guys want to live near other people.
