They've been in there this week working on the floors. Looks like prepping the concrete for staining mostly.
I got my electrical panel drafted up.
I'm going to get my cabinets drawn up this morning, so I have dimensioned drawings I can take with me to get some quotes.
I'm looking at going with quartz, doing some rough calcs, I have about 27sq ft. Lowe's had a minimum order of 25, so I'm right above that.
The material I want is $61/sq, so material alone comes to $1,600 roughly, Lowe's quoted me $500 for an under-mount kitchen sink (stone cut and the sink it'self), and assuming $300 for each bathroom, that brings the total to $2,700 for counte tops.
Those are just some rough numbers I'm working with. I realize quartz is but I don't want the Corian material, and I don't like the look of most granite.
So, I got a basis for getting quotes elsewhere now.

Items that are currently on the agenda:
Getting roof repairs done, and install roof vents for the bathroom, and possible the range hood vent.
Flooring (stained concrete)
Counter tops.
Getting quotes for bathtub refinishing.
The hallway bathroom and kitchen are going to be tile. I'm tempted to just lay the tile myself to save money. I've never done it before, but I know how to use a tape measure, level, and how to be fairly precise.

FWIW, I love my quartz counters. 10 years in and they still look the same as the day they were installed. Also, zero maintenance other than occasional cleaning. No need to seal, ever. Can be cleaned with a damp rag or with a little dish soap, or even with a squirt of Windex. 5/7 material.

yea but right no no one here will want that work or the 'tax' to do such a small jerb will be high.[user not found] wrote:You could always lay the center tile and leave the edge/detail work to the professional.Melon wrote:Items that are currently on the agenda:

Nah, I'll get a tile saw and finish the job 100%. No reason not to finish it.[user not found] wrote:You could always lay the center tile and leave the edge/detail work to the professional.Melon wrote:Items that are currently on the agenda:

can definitely do it. Just do a bit of research and maybe watch a vid. The key is knowing when to offset the center line so you don't end up with little slivers of tile at the walls.

You need a tile saw? Shit dude, check Craigslist. People have em there all day for like $50. It's just a saw with a water pump. We borrowed one of Kendra's coworker's ones and I think he got it at Harbor Freight for $50. Lemme look.
Yeah, I'm too lazy to link. Hazard Fraught has a bunch, Home Depot and Lowes have em.
We used it for our backsplash. After using it I figured if we had to do something else I'd probably spend $70-100 on one and then use it then put it in the attic for the next project.

Nice!Melon wrote:Made an appt. for my counter tops @ Lowe's and looked at some sinks.
I found a material I like 100% that's $45/sq not the $61/sq stuff I was looking at last week.

I have a miter saw, table saw, and tile saw from HF. I use the miter saw and table saw a lot. Neither have skipped a beat.

What are we looking at here?Melon wrote:Found more A/C leaking.
They were closed when I found it, but I left a message demanding they call me this morning to process a return.
When they call, I'm going to light into them so fucking hard.

Saw the house this weekend. The changes are good. That feaux wall being removed makes it a really nice space. The lights he's got in are pimp. Makes me wanna upgrade all of mine.
Oh wait, I don't have lights in my house. PAW PAW STRIKES AGAIN!
