It's actually $307/month + $5700 down. And that's for 10k/miles a year. Hyundai Ioniq5 & 6 are better deals and better cars.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 2:37 pm$299 a month lease bruh. Fully loaded Prius Crime is the same price as the starting price for a Model 3, $39K

I get in a lot of Prius Ubers for some reason. Charlotte is infested with them. They’re the worst car I could have ever imagined. A soul sucking brick for soul sucking people. I can always tell when someone I meet drives a Prius. Asking me to pick between a Prius and a new badge Toyota (what I call teslas to Tesla drivers, they hate it!!) is like picking between death and castration.
To add, Tesla drivers aren’t car people, they’re tech and computer people. They could give fuck all about performance and care about tech, status, and that it’s “saving the environment”
If you wanna save the environment, drive used! We don’t need more cars in the landfill.
Or ride a bike like Dan said! If we spent half as much on transit and bikability in Charlotte as we do for city council to have $10k dinners and have dopes running our fucking city, we would have some damn fine mobility. I was riding my bike today in a 25 mph speed limit, doing 27! Passed within inches cause some fat fuck Karen POS feels the need to drive 1/3 mile to the Harris teeter in her fuckin Yukon.
Rant over, pissed off today.

went to do site visit for work at gov facility. installing steam heaters for the workers.....in un-insulated wood buildings built in the 40's where some rooms literally don't have doors. Steam being wasted all over the place, like one 1.5" or 2" line where the PSV has been going off for what looks likes years just pissing away probably 50# an hour or more of 15lb steam.
But these same fucktards want to tell me what kind of light bulbs to use, what kind of stove I can buy, or what kind of car to drive because eNeRgY eFfIcIeNcY (NB: the site has its own NG fired boiler for steam production, most is probably used for process purposes but i digress)

It's all about value. I was lecturing myself as much as you. If $40K buys lifestyle quality, which would be a car that uses very little gas, is acceptably fun to drive, and gets use by the whole fam bam..then great. Part of my retirement plan will involve a hybrid/pure electric because of my new solar setup. (Last bill, $-71.00) . But I have decided early retirement does not become me and I ain't doing it so I'm going to drive what I want to drive. Besides, $40K is what any decent new car costs at a minimum. I just don't need a new car because I keep my old shit super tight (which I enjoy) and I just don't cover that many miles, a factor in the tightness. I miss by C6GS which was paid for but my women don't. What was I gonna do, drive off by myself on weekend road trips? I am truthfully in a conundrum about what kind of spending brings me joy across the entire spectrum, not just cars.max225 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 4:02 pmI feel attackedDesertbreh wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 3:02 pm
OF COURSE. But no lease deal on a Model 3 is going to move me to action, even though it should by pure green visor car hater economics. Stop talking about cars, stop talking about M3s, M2s, sports cars, fun, pleasure in general. Wear Costco Signature Sweatshirts and drink Costco Signature Vokda with tap water, to wash down your $1.50 hot dogs in your depreciation free last cheap Tacoma while your wife and your son lavishly whisk themselves about in an electric BMW.
Fun has a place. Boring cars have a place as well. Combo is key imo.
Having a fun car you’re forced to commute with through the hellscape of murderous hooker infested gas station and broken endlessly potholes Baghdad freeways is not my idea of fun.
Balloon tires in a long term ev rental is the way to go imo.
Same goes for the weekends, if I had a model 3 on the weekends in the winery parking lot I would not be happy. Eff that

I don’t trust the gov with a single dollar. They have shown us over and over again they are inferior to private enterprise. So clearly public transit is a direct result of that. It will never change.
It will always suck. Doesn’t matter how much you wanna grease your local politician

34 Grand for a car that pulls 1g and traps @ 106 and has a 10 year/100K mile warranty and can actually fit family members and stuff is an inflation buster.

It's really a nice toaster to live with day to day. One is that the fuel capacity shrunk from 18.5 gal in ours to only 14 in the current ones.
