2023 :plac: thread
My rental Prius this week averaged 48 MPG (not a Prime) around suburban Philadelphia. I spent a little time in the city, mostly highway/suburban surface street driving around the area, did about 250 miles of driving.

Oh. I forgot to include the important part.
2023 Ford Lightning. Got a deal I couldn't pass up.
It's basically this truck that sold for over $100k used in July of 2022: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/36NPOy ... ing-lariat
I'm getting it new, after EV credit in the spring, for < $57k.

I wonder what the buyer of that C&B truck thinks about it now.
Note to self: NEVER buy an EV for anywhere close to MSRP.Gberg2119 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:45 pmMrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:41 pm Oh. I forgot to include the important part.

We got 37 of em at the local dealer and I occasionally think about them as well. But they are too big for my garage unfortunately. This bad boy here is some sort of base... but the seats look great it has decent wheels/paint and 360 cam not sure what else is needed. And I know they have 7-15k on the hood here.

They tried to take em way to too upmarket. Also that 100k+ C&B non sense was at the peak at the frenzy when i sold my model X for 140k to carmax... and it has a 89k msrp today.

MSRP was $87,869 in the summer, then Ford cut it.
-$8500 MSRP reduction in July
-$7500 EV credit (eligible due to the MSRP drop)
-$7500 Ford cash
-$7500 dealer discount
Puts me just under $57k for a fully loaded Lariat with the big battery.

is good. Just make sure you have enough taxes to offset the crebits since it's hitting the same year. What's happening with the bolt?MrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:06 pmExtended range Lariat.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:59 pm

I pay plenty of taxes, unfortunately. Dual income, no kids, SALT cap They changed bonus timing for us too, so I technically don't get a bonus for 2023 (pays out in January instead of November like it used to). Stars all kind of align.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:08 pmis good. Just make sure you have enough taxes to offset the crebits since it's hitting the same year. The Bolt gets traded in. Not a bad car by any means, I'll remember it fondly. A Lightning is just a much more useful vehicle to have around, especially for house stuff and the impending kids at some point.

Are you saying the Lightning isn't a truck? But I should get a Tesla instead because you saw one towing something on the way to work?golftdibrad1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:41 pmthe electric not-a-truck. Godspeed.MrH42 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:41 pm Oh. I forgot to include the important part.
