I don't think divisions are new, what is new is social media clan culture where you're either with or against people. There's no middle ground, and there's no compromise. Organizations are now forced to pick a side, and that applies to orgs of all sizes, including this one. As a place with no real identity, that ended up being the death knell. Neutral is no longer an acceptable stance for anyone/thing, like it once was when this place started. When this place started, picking a side wasn't life or death like it can be now.SAWCE wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:08 pmthe world also hadn’t gone to shit as much as it has now. I was ignorant to politics back then (I still try to be as much as possible today), but the hated between the left and right didn’t seem nearly as intense back then.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 11:39 am
People were lighthearted because they young, dumb and full of superior interiors.
We also now live in a world where digital identity is just as if not more important than physical identity, Nothing is truly anonymous, and nothing is shouting purely into the void. As a result, places like this have a new found responsibility to serve members in a fair, equitable, and honest manner, and without a true identity, that's impossible without alienating someone. I think it's this that lead to the most recent departures, and that's fair considering how the world has changed. We should all be more careful about digital privacy, and airing out all dirty laundry for the world to see isn't wise. I abandoned traditional social media because of that, but I suppose this place can't be excluded from that anymore.
