Speaking of my son's :diller: is negotiation to take in a 2012 with 92k slightly lowered and a stage 2 tune with I am assuming a clutch that can handle the lb/feet. One older owner....Super clean in red.
Whats it worth? Were the Mk6's relatively reliable or did they have the same water pump, intake manifold, carbon issues? Any other issues?
You interested?
I'm not really one to scare from higher mile cars, especially one enthusiast owner. That said, the mileage certainly knocks down the value.

Who is going to go out and say they like it? Bueller ? Bueller ?
A lot of have expressed for the screens and LED headlight strip on another feed I've seen it in. I doubt this crowd really cares about that stuff. So I'm going with none... final answer!
Not overly impressed with much or anything on this mk8. The new 245hp GTE is doe
Looks fine to me minus the stupid follow-the-leader shrinking of the rear window by raising the ass. It's still the best hatch sold here, if they're going to bother selling it here that is...

Whats it worth?
Running away from.
A high mileage, stage 2 tuned, lowered VW. It was probably traded for a reason.
Yes I told my son much the same but he is enamored with it.....I kind of hope they guy goes somewhere else..... he is trading it in on a used truck and wants $10K in trade..... My son expects that his dillershit would let him have it for $12k

Fucking hell. $10k? We staring down $7k MAYBE on trade (prolly 6k) on a 2013 DE GTI with 72k miles.
Water pump is hit or miss. Many more cars had zero issues. Carbon build is common at that point, its now typ maintenance on most euro cars 50-70k miles in. We had the secondary fuel pump go at 40k miles.

Other than that, its been a solid ride.
GTI depreciation curve is pretty brutal, R is definitely less terrible.

The GTI will literally go to zero lol. Imjust surprised the diller is even entertaining $10k trade value. And his son can easily find a better newer GTI for less than $12k.

Its an R .... Not sure if the dealer will give the guy that or not..... but based on your own links 2012's are going for $14 to $17K so if He could get it for $12K and the guy had already done the any or all of the ticking timebombs....(i.e.water pump, haldex sched maint or intake mani) it might be worth considering, no?

oh oh oh. I missed the entire part about it being an R. Proceed then.
