We went back to Lucerne because the Mrs discovered a trip to the top of a mountain via boat, cog railroad, and cable car was also included in our Swiss pass. So we took a turn-of-the-last century paddle wheel steam boat from Lucerne to Vitznau where we caught the cog railroad up to the top of Mt. Rigi.
First, here's a youtube vid of this engine running.
Pic of the engine of the steam boat and pics from the peak of Mt Rigi.

After the short hike from the peak of Mt Rigi back to the cog railroad, we took it to another village about halfway down the mountain where we caught a VERY steep cable car down the rest of the mountain to the town of Weggis, where we caught a boat back to Lucerne.
Pics of the cable car experience, and one more pic of Lucerne as we approached it by boat

I see no Buick Lucerne on display at the transportation museum.
If I had paid to get in I would have demanded my money back.

Nice!!
I've been to Lucerne once when I was probably 8 or 9, my parents and uncle rented an Opel Zafira and drove it to Nice!

Bad ass, Ron. Thank you. I'd fucking love to knock off for a month or two and kick around those parts.

Thanks! And you're welcome. If you can't do a month or 2, do just a couple weeks. Bring your spawn, too. She'd probably love it.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 1:36 pm Bad ass, Ron. Thank you. I'd fucking love to knock off for a month or two and kick around those parts.
I'll get more pics up soon.

Before moving on to Geneva, here are 3 pics from Bern, the capital.
First two are details of their Gothic cathedral, and the 3rd one is of their medieval clock tower, from about the 1400's.
