No troll, but, it gets discussed in so many other threads that we genuinely need a good place to discuss the second most important rubbers in out life.
Keep it civil (This applies to me as well.)
Also, let's shelf the new vs. used discussion for another day.
Tar Thread, New, Used, Abused.

I'm super happy with the PSS.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 9:28 pm Great starting point is the fact that I haven't even taken delivery of the car yet but I need to start shopping for tires for the Alfa. Those 60 treadwears will be gone instantly. PS4 or PSS?

Only $10 more per tire on a $310 asp tire. Costco has a on both, $70 off a set of 4 and $60 if you use their visa[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 9:32 pmPS4.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 9:28 pm Great starting point is the fact that I haven't even taken delivery of the car yet but I need to start shopping for tires for the Alfa. PSS are being phased out I thought. PS4S in case you need a replacement down the line.
If you can do costco definitely go with them. The PS4S is only showing as $1 more than the PSS in my size.
PS4 doesn't come in sizes though so I'll have to reinvent the wheel next set. Pun intended.

I base my car buying decisions partly on tire availability and pricing. RE71R's for the are about $600/set. For a they're $1200.

Shouldn’t be much more at all... they’re a direct replacement for the PSS. In the Porsche sizes I’ve been selling they are right around the same list price.
PSS are on a semi-official close out/fire sale though with about a 10-15% discount.
That said the PS4S is the better buy that is supposed to have better long term tire life compared to the PSS.

I'm about to blow $1650 on a set of Rivals. Unless my friend's contact with a shop can cut a deal like he says. Apparently they're a direct distributor for BFG so they can undercut TireRack by a significant amount.

I actually doubt they'll have sizes. No modern cars run wide 17" and 18" wheels anymore.
I need 265/45r17 and 295/35r18. Both sizes are reaching impossible status. I ended up with Toyo T1 Sports, and they're pretty solid. I would have preferred Michelin, but I could not find any in my sizes anymore. PSS used to be available, not anymore.

Other than taxes, are there any other benefits for picking up directly from Tire Rack?fledonfoot wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 10:34 pmPro tip: [user not found] is under a 90 minute drive from Tire rack in Delaware to also skirt taxes.

Taxes, shipping, and getting them when you want. Also if you order wheels at the same time they’ll mount them for you so they’re ready to go.KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 12:44 pmOther than taxes, are there any other benefits for picking up directly from Tire Rack?fledonfoot wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 10:34 pm

Ok, I just gave this shop a call. They're legit.
My tires on TireRack are $362 a piece. With shipping and tax I'm looking at $1,635 total.
This shop, $315 a piece. Dude told me to add my local sales tax to it 4X, and then add $10 per tire for shipping.
So
4X $315 = 1260
9% Sales Tax on $315 = $28.35, X4 = 113
$40 for shipping
Grand total of $1,413
For a total difference of $222.

They'll need you to fill out a form which basically creates an account. And you buy like you're a race team. They're a BFG distributor for race teams, so if you're looking for Rivals, these are your guys.

is strong.
Also, dear lawd are them expensive tars.
I'm filling the forms out now. I emailed them about a decal thing. There's a page saying you've got to display BFGoodrich on both sides of the car and have a patch. But my buddy told me they don't really care about that. I emailed them to confirm.
His response was this
Translation, ZERO F0CKS GIVENI can send you the file and you can go to town on the decal. No charge for the decals or patches though.
