Had this last night. Super intense, but mostly because of how thick and malty it was, just a small burn from alcohol.

Borderline too sweet/vanilla, but still good.

5/7 Jamaican beer review.Tarspin wrote:Feelin' irie after five(?) of these stubby Red Stripes. I Highly recommend this light lager to be enjoyed outdoors or in a garage while slingin'used tars to make space.

First time I had it was like 30 years ago in a Reggae bar in Wrigleyville near Wrigley Field. Didn't really care for it then but a couple years ago someone brought some to our annual neighborhood Christmas party and I tried one at their encouragement and really dug it, so much that they "made" me take a couple home to enjoy later. Could they have changed their recipe some time in the past 3 decades? Or, more likely, my palate has changed over the years.Calvinball wrote: ↑Wed May 02, 2018 11:44 pm I haven’t had it in so long I cannot weigh in.

More likely palate, but possibly a combo of both.wap wrote:First time I had it was like 30 years ago in a Reggae bar in Wrigleyville near Wrigley Field. I don’t even remember seeing it for sale recently, but I’m never in the full cases section of beer stores.

Et tu Ronald? What is it about Red Stripe that makes you all warm and fuzzy?
1. You got off a cruise in Jamaica and watched the waves roll in whilst squeezing Mrs. Broham and drinking the magical potion?
2. The short stubby bottle and "Diver Down" logo has you bewitched?
3. You own Red Stripe stock?
I spent a week in Ocho Rios drinking "the best beer in the world mon" and I wasn't taken in for a second, not from the first beer to the 156nd. It's the ONLY BEER in Jamaica mon. That is it's redeeming characteristic. Which would be like if you were stuck in Miami and Natty Light was the only and and hence "best beer in America." Fortunately, that's not the case.
Horrible beer, 5/7 marketing doe.

Should've gone to Negril , you're wasting your money in OR.Desertbreh wrote:Et tu Ronald? What is it about Red Stripe that makes you all warm and fuzzy?

I drank 6/6 Red Caps yesterday. They go down great and don't offend 6/7 forum reviewers. They are a lager, and light but not watery like typical light beers or XX. Nothing more or less. I will probably snag another six pack this summer but don't place top marks to the product. The bottle is 5/7 doe and I agree with the marketing.

I know it's nothing particularly special but just found it to be a light beer with more flavor than most lights and it goes down easy. I mean, I've had beer in some of the greatest beer locations in the world, from Prague to Berlin to beer halls in Munich to London to Warsaw (Poland has some surprisingly 5/7 darks), etc. and I know RS isn't nearly as good as the brews from those places, but I'd take one over a C- or Miller/Bud Light or any of that piss water 5 out of 7 days. That's all.

Yea, never been a Hamms fan, but I do remember fondly the Hamms Bear ad campaign from when I was a wee lad.Desertbreh wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 5:32 pmSee OT for ChiTown Pisswater King of the Hill!wap wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 5:29 pm

To be fair, after my thorough drubbing of Red Stripe ITT, I will pick some up next time I see it to re-evaluate.
A good beer drinker is compelled to always evaluate what's happened, so he can apply what he's learned.
