Speaking of oil, is Mobil1 the (basic 5w30, not this 20k mile version) still recommended on the corvette by GM? Word on the street has it that M1 changed their formula a couple of years ago.

The hard truth about automation. Do it right or it will kick you in the wallet. The "Robot Engineer" salary rate is :wrong: doe. $100/hr is bs. There is definite savings in automation but its not on labor really. More like time = throughput..... if its done right!

Depends on the year. They went to a Dexos rated label w/o specifying Mobil 1 a couple years ago, and now are back to a new formula Mobil 1 "ESP" for 2019, 0-40w.

BlueDevilZ51 asked:
Do you recommend 2014-18 C7s use the new Mobil 1 0w40 dexos2 engine oil that has been announced to be the factory oil fill for 2019s. I'd prefer to use one oil instead of having to change from 5w30 to 15w50 for track use. If you don't recommend the earlier C7 using 0w40, why?
Tadge answered:
Yes, the new Mobil1 OW40 Dexos 2 oil (Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40) is also the recommended oil for all C7's prior to 2019. This oil was specifically developed to meet all of GM's performance requirements during engine dyno testing, vehicle road testing and performance track testing including the 2014-2018 Corvettes (all models). The Multi-grade Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 synthetic motor oil has many benefits including exceptional fast oil flow at startup along with low temperature pump-ability and exceptional viscosity/performance characteristics at high-temperature and high-RPM operating conditions. We are still refining our recommendations for the LT5 in the upcoming ZR1, so they may differ.

Mazda's focused on perfecting the ICE - and moly helps reduce friction.
Next oil change I'm going Quaker state ultimate durability. Apparently has lots of Molly and it's 20 bucks. And 2Dexos, whatever that is.

I always throw the :turboyaris: 0W40 Mobil 1 oil in mine as the oil temps get up to 270+ when tracking/driving hard. It seems to work well.

I used to love these on Gran Torismo back in middle school. Very cool looking cars but the performance was always a bit :flaccid: on the game IIRC.

Yea, Ellis likes 0w40. Great for all conditions, and has been recommended in Europe forever.

Well, the ZR2 asks for 5W-30 and I have a fair amount on hand... so I guess that's okay. Would be great to be able to buy one oil for the cars. The Jeep asks for 5W-20, but in warmer climates 5W-30 is fine and is what I've been using.

I also now have what will probably be a 10 year supply of oil filters for the Z06 since I got rid of the 1LE and had bought 24 filters in bulk and have 20 left.

The Z06 usually gets it twice a year, but it sits a lot of the time.

I drive about 150 miles a day, so I run through oil changes. I think I did 5 on the Camaro in the year I owned it, especially since it ran low once, so I did a change instead of add.

The Camaro would have been bone dry and needing a new motor, twice.
