Did they take the intake manifold off to scrub the valves by hand or did they just inject magic piss into the intake a la "BG intake treatment" service? The squirt method does literally nothing.

Pretty sure they took the intake manifold off. They sent me a video of all of the carbon they found.
Did a bit more research. Sears has a deal right now for the same tires, being sold at $124.19 per tire! I called VW and see if they can price match. If they can, just gonna have the work done there. They have to call me back.KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:31 pmFair enough. Get it donenuggstein wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 12:04 pm
I understand what you're getting at, but yeah, but i'm in a tough spot. car is already at dealership. have a loaner. going to be going on site to a customer soon, can't really "take off early" or anything yet. I'm going to be doing a lot of driving. it's just worth it for me to get it done at the dealership. I have a lot going on. I'm primary on call this upcoming weekend, I need to be near a computer.

Sears even has free installation if you buy four tires, but scheduling that would be a pain...don't even know if I trust them doing that.

Just found out this morning that she's being released to go home tomorrow morning. She's looking forward to sleeping in her own bed, getting back to volunteering (she volunteers at the day care center in the hospital that did her surgery), and eating better food with her friends.
The video they sent me was to show me the carbon build up. I did not receive a video of them cleaned, though they told me I would be receiving one.wap wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:59 pmGood call. They just might price match.nuggstein wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:54 pm

It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the sale of the fucking century
At sears it's $124 per tire installed. I don't really want them touching my car, though. Not after all of the super negative reviews I've been reading.KYGTIGuy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 4:18 pm124 per tire installed?nuggstein wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:54 pm

When I had my intake manifold repaired under warranty my carbon cleaning was $138
I stood with the tech while they did it and they confirmed it was scrubbed on the repair report. $730 is what they would charge you if they had to take apart the IM, in my opinion. No way it’s that expensive. In a carbon cleaning you’re paying for the labor of taking apart and putting back together the intake manifold. Sounds like they shanked VW with the repair under warranty and they got a full price for a service they didn’t perform for the cleaning.

Do you think they didn't actually perform the carbon cleaning?razr390 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 4:43 pm When I had my intake manifold repaired under warranty my carbon cleaning was $138

They did it. It was documented and I saw them doing it. No piss to be seen. Plus, it’s a lease vehicle so it’s in their best interest to do it properly because they have to sell the car after.wap wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 4:50 pmDo you think they didn't actually perform the carbon cleaning?razr390 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 14, 2018 4:43 pm When I had my intake manifold repaired under warranty my carbon cleaning was $138

All I’m saying is that if the intake manifold is already open, a carbon cleaning should never go beyond $250, depending on the dealer. I’ve heard of $700-1,000 but that’s without IM being apart/replaces by warranty from VW
