Yeah, the lizard brain deciding that "THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER" while spinning cold tires leaving the lot on a test drive does NOT mean that it's the car to buy. No different from seeing a great pair of and immediately marrying them.

FWIW I should have the Doritos Locos machine in Charlotte for Zombie Jesus weekend, if you'll be in town and want to drive one. Tentatively getting in on Wednesday the 25th and leaving on either Saturday or Sunday.

From Planet 9 - Those pesky coil packs...you may or may not need to replace in YO Cayman. Interesting read - http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-and- ... plugs.html

Just the typical Porsche Rube Goldberg setup. Changing an engine air filter on a 991 requires bumper and tail light removal. That's why maintenance kills you on these cars. Just is what it is.Davestr wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 10:04 am From Planet 9 - Those pesky coil packs...you may or may not need to replace in YO Cayman. True-- but maintenance is the price of ownership for any car. Rear or mid engine maintenance has never been that easy. Now more so than ever with all the ancillary systems hooked up to the motor.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 10:32 amJust the typical Porsche Rube Goldberg setup. taking off a bumper/rear tail light should take all of 10 min. Every 40k miles seems like a small price to pay to enjoy a mid engine car. That's once every 4 years for most ppl.Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 10:32 amJust the typical Porsche Rube Goldberg setup. Why are we talking 991s now... I figured it was a typo.
The rear bumper and inner fender need to come off during spark plug changes on the Gayman.
I actually looked into it a fair amount. Regular maintenance is honestly NOT BAD. Parts are not that expensive and it runs on M1 you can get at walmart.
The issues begin if you have actual problems and need actual replacement parts from Porsche or porsche diagnostic equipment
Spark plugs are actually kind of a bitch.. they need to be done every 3 years or 36k...
Also this is what coils look like after 4 years and 40k miles

The pain of the 40k service.....Im amazed at the bitching. Research on any like forum or maybe calling a dealer or 2 in your region would probably make this known before buying the Zuffenhausen rocket....WTF.....it aint a secret all this....

More Cayman owner fun with basic items. This one is oil level check procedures. Appears some read the manual and others dont. Yes it would be nice to have a dipstick but thats not reality with this car. Enjoy!

Figure I could sell a kit for $250 with $25 worth of parts.

$1800 for oil, filter, brake flush and spark plugs seems a bit excessive. Some of those talking wallets only paid like $1200.Davestr wrote:http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-and- ... -paid.html

Meh it is listed as $1799 which still seems cheap. Considering my 25k otd tdi was 1100-1200 if one was to pay stealershit pricesDavestr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:02 am http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-and- ... -paid.html

Does your kit come with a Porsche dealer that sucks your dick when you pull in ? How about a record that gets retained in the system ?4zilch wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 9:04 amTime to develop a sight glass kit and sell it to the s.Davestr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:41 am More Cayman owner fun with basic items. How about the skills required to do the job ?
Those things are needed for the average Porsche they ain’t gonna work on their cars that’s not the correct demographic for the first owner

Holy also adding 1/4 of a quart to a 10quart sump is a giant waste of time I’d wait till it reads 1 or more low.Davestr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:41 am More Cayman owner fun with basic items. Also kind of impressive how large that sump is... I wonder why?! Most likely to achieve that p car 15k mile Service interval because Porsche owners are not to be bothered by dealers
