Paint that looks OK-ish is $5k bare minimum. Never again unless it's some vintage restoration thing that really needs it.

I've considered going full and having it wrapped like this.
Not going to happen, doe.

The one above is wrapped. I've considered trying dip just for fun. I may still.

Looks like it's $500 all-in if you buy the dipyourcar sprayer. Which is cheaper than any other option by at least 150%. My concern is getting it to look decent and then how long it'll last and if it'll start peeling, etc.

Decent is a matter of keeping it clean, and not scrubbing the fuck out of it when you wash it.
Also, keep gas and other chems off of the surface, it will distort the color. Other than that, it's pretty

Have you ever dipped a car or know someone that has? I'm quite curious and can't find anyone I know that's done it.
The car is pretty babied as it is. Washed weekly always by hand the driveway, in the garage always (even at work). Maybe it's a good candidate for dip...

And they held up pretty well? No issues with peeling, etc?Melon wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 10:53 amI rattle can Plast-dipped parts on my first motorcycle.Detroit wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 10:14 am

Not at all the same as doing a whole car, but I sprayed the gray plastic front grille on the vibe with 2 or 3 coats of black plastidip over 3 years ago and it still looks fine.
I'm not sure I'd be happy with the overall finish look from less than 10 feet away if I did a whole car
This is something you do on a race car or a cheapass beater, not a nice car IMO.

I dunno. Seems like if you take your time with prep and buy the right stuff (not rattle can) it might turn out ok?troyguitar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2018 11:12 am Not at all the same as doing a whole car, but I sprayed the gray plastic front grille on the vibe with 2 or 3 coats of black plastidip over 3 years ago and it still looks fine.

Hard to say. I just wish it was cheaper to change the color of a car.
