The data my wife sees shows that most of the people that live there have no education to speak of, 4-5 kids per family and the average income is low for the area. There are no fewer than 3 C5's in there that I have seen, including a black one that is jacked up and has what looks like 24" wheels on it.
This car is the '87 IROC in 1999.

I think I enjoyed my C5 the most because at the time it was so much better than my '99 Camaro SS I had. Were my newer ones better? Yes, but I think the satisfaction I got by owning the C5 was greater.

I imagine the delta from a 4th gen F-Body is massive. And that's what I struggle with. I know the C7 is better in every way, but I don't know if the delta is great enough to justify triple the price. I fear I'd end up being a bit compared to where I am now.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 9:34 amPretty much exactly how I probably looked.

Always cheaper to keep her, but man... it's a way better car. It's new with no old car , better performance, looks more modern, great interior. You just have to decide if it's worth paying to play.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 9:40 amI imagine the delta from a 4th gen F-Body is massive. And that's what I struggle with. Allure of the C7 is newer tech, infotainment, looks, and ideally, get one with lower miles for NFG reliability.Detroit wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 9:40 amI imagine the delta from a 4th gen F-Body is massive. I want a GT car I can bomb on mountain roads, the C5 does that beautifully, so the C7 would be that plus more.
I want to go to eleven.

Performance of a base C7 is likely worse than my C5 at this point. The interior is more cramped, but the materials and build quality is way nicer. Looks absolutely, but I don't know if it's really worth it. Especially since it's not really my main vehicle.

Yea, I guess. But by the time the prices are where I'm willing to pay, I don't think reliability will be so ZFG. I've done everything that could go wrong on my C5. That thing will run without much issue for the rest of the time I own it.

I haven't gone that far into mine.
It's got some electrical shit creeping in now, that and the diff still whining have killed my motivation on this car. I enjoy it, and will continue to do so, but I'm over trying to fix it.

The joys of always buying the new one.
Yes it is expensive, but I'm not sure how much more expensive it really is when you consider $ and time invested to fix/rebuild/awesomize an old one. There is a certain peace of mind knowing you don't need to do anything and the car is going to be fully reliable.

Yea, if my car hadn't been treating me so well, it would probably be a different story. Other than the clutch, mine has been quite solid.

I honestly think that from a pure fun standpoint, it's superior to a C7. Rawness, etc.

It's a way nicer car, yes, but it is at least 3X the cost. My C5 has been less than $350/month for everything including fuel, depreciation, insurance, maintenance, repairs. They are CHEAP cars hence the Mexican popularity.

My 2011 Grand Sport was equal to the C5 Z06 if comparing new to new.
$350/month for a 20 year old car seems like a lot to me.

You basically can't get under $300/mo in any car, period. Maybe a 90s 4 cylinder Camry on shit tires with no insurance.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 11:55 amHard to compare.

Amortize the $2k down, plus taxes, insurance, and fuel...I bet it's pushing over 350/mo.CorvetteWaxer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:03 pmLocaltroyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2018 11:59 am

If I drove the car more and/or it could be my primary car, I could justify it.
Having a new ZFG mobile is really nice.
