Exactly what I was thinking when I read that.

We straight up told our DJ he would NOT get paid if he played any of the songs on a list we handed him before the reception. Despite getting requests for some of them he hung tough and didn't play them so he got paid.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 10:48 am We banned at or wedding too.
Was, hands-down, the best party I’ve been to and/or thrown. Guest list was under 90 people, we excluded liquor unless you brought it, and we had no official DJ, so we played the songs we wanted.
Can’t stand it when weddings get hijacked by some DJ who wants to play Electric Slide on repeat.

2018 is looking like it's going to be an expensive year.
We're doing that Tennessee trip in March, then in June going to Seattle for a wedding and it looks like we're following the wedding couple to Hawaii for 10 days. I think I'd rather buy another motorcycle or something.
On the plus side, got notification from the insurance that they will be reimbursing us $700 for the nearly $1,000 ER visit. a purchase that pays off.

I'd tell him to GTFO, plug in my phone, and stream some shit[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 11:17 amI went to a friend's wedding recently and it was very clear that the list of music they gave the DJ to play was thrown right into the garbage.

That keeps the olds from getting chicken dance, macarena, YMCA, or hokey pokey.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 11:18 amWe did the inverse but the same. Gave him like 8 hours of "any of these but nothing else that the maid if honor doesn't approve of."

I would so hard on that DJ if he did that to me. I'd tell him to straighten the fuck up and play my shit or immediately.

We sort of did similar. We were given a list of genrss to pick from. We chose 80's/90's alternative/new wave, plus some 60's/Motown, in addition to our specific songs for first dance, wedding party dance, etc.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 11:18 amWe did the inverse but the same. What insurance do people have? Last time I got a quote, the basic plan that just covered emergencies was $25/mo. $300/year. Our has never been in for an emergency and we've had her for 5 years...so I've saved $1,500 so far. So if she does go for an emergency, I have $1500 to spend before I start losing.

I'd rather have a Viking wedding where we slaughter a goat to the Gods and eat the heart. I think that would have greater staying power than a cover band poorly playing a rendition of Happy by Pharrell.

I'm interested in hearing as well. I'd have saved money last year if I had dag insurance. It's all just such a scam though.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2018 12:06 pm What insurance do people have?
