Got the house payoff info from my mortgage holder yesterday. We're seriously thinking of pulling the trigger before the end of the year. Thoughts?

Is there financial benefit or just fun benefit?
Maybe a bit of both? We're close to paying it off and there's very little interest left to deduct. Plus, we just switched to an HSA health insurance plan at work and killing the mortgage will free up funds to contribute to that.

I think we will. We owe under $19k at 4.375% interest and just want to be done with it. Would you do it if your balance was that low and at that rate?

I highly doubt you are paying enough interest at this point to even claim it unless you have other HUGE deductions to itemize.
