Just did another check... Apparently, I basically have a 0 option 4 series...
43,500 MSRP. For only $700 you can get suspension and for $795 stereo.

After that it is :notbad: still no engine but for :derp: ing around it is ok... 440i starts at 49k... full 6k more...

Track handling for $1700 would be epic... PSS tires, better tires, brakes and suspension.
Yea its a nice semi sport luxo cruiser at the base level with the options you noted above, and sorta reasonable price with full on badge. The extra 6k is worth it to gain the torque etc etc and that smoothness the 6 brings.
Yea the 4 makes the 3 series feel "cheap" the I6 is smoother. Although the I6 is less smooth than both my 400k crown vic and the 300S. America does smooth better.

Inline 6 is smoother than most V6 configurations. The 6 in the 370z is smooth for a V actually. Hard to beat smoothness in a good V8 in general.

+1 that power plant has no major issues and is probably under rated for torque.

The only "issues" are a factory 3750 OCI and overheating on the pre 2012 models. I couldn't get mine to overheat even after raping it through the canyons...

Those items are seriously not major. 15000km are the factory recommended oil change here on 5w30 synthetic. Much hype on that oil temp issue overall. They added the cooler yours had in late 2011. Like you said it was hard to get the oil to 270 or more to enable limp mode. Nissan didn’t replace tons of motors due to oil over temps cookin the internals. I had a 2010 no issues or crazy temps with the oil.

you didn't go top gun enough.
I think I got mine to 260 :doe:
270 is just limp mode no damage at that point, damage starts closer to 300... Datsun just has a very low tollerance level for high temps built into the software.

I've had Ellis to 290.

Started using Pennzoil Platinum - Ultra
It takes the higher temps better than M1.

Ain't no thang. Mine hit 300 in 2-3 laps when it was stock. Coolant routinely got hot as hell too.

I think very short time it is ok... but in general you start to spin bearings above 300...
i think the infamous oil issue happened on 335i from 07-08 as well... I believe their limit was 275...

The 160degree thermostat, and 70/30 water mix after cleaning the radiator and condenser core really helped it.
Last dragon run I never saw it get over 255, when it got to 280 months prior.

So quick update... I shouldn't have been as hasty as I was.

I was able to adjust the stereo to make it decent. It is no where near HK but pending some additional research it is actually 9 speakers and 210 watts. Radio sounds really bad and tinny even in HD for some reason however satellite radio sounds good... it is the reverse in my 335i.

Also power is decent, in the evening... maybe because it was colder, and or maybe because I only drive it in sport now. Which keeps it above 2000rpm at all times and limits lag.

Overall :notbad: i can totally see it being an "ok" derpmobile with a track pack and better wheels/tires. I'd still long for the 6 doe...

Sport mode keeps revs over 2k? :stig:
So it's completely ball-less without that turbo? I hate engines like that.

Right? I realize my driving situation is FAR different than anyone else on this forum doe, and most enthusiasts in general. Most people won't experience what I did with my GTI. But man, if you lean SO heavily on a turbo to make motive force off idle, when that turbo is fully heat soaked and not adding any power, the drive becomes an exercise in frustration especially in heavy stop and go.

My GTI was positively abysmal for that. The STI is worlds better in that regard. A 5 cyl Golf is most ideal for it, honestly, and is what I should have bought instead of the GTI.

This thing is a dooooog off idle where as the i6 pushes you in your seat... if you can forget about 700-2500rpm it is good ... but I spend a lot of time in that range

Well some ppl like to pretend they are :stig: when sitting in traffic ...
Not having any balls in most of the rpm band is why I sold the e46 M3. Terribly overrated car imo

To be fair my car doesn’t have much below 3k either. In 1st and 2nd it’s ok it higher gears are disappointing. I like how it’s consistent though.

False, drive an E46m3 and get back to me... your car feels fine, the super short gearing and the turbro make it seem a lot more powerful than it is, which is okay.
