I never understood the "40 hour work week." Doesn't really make sense to me.

Crazy. But I don't think it really works anymore. I mean I can honestly say I am not productive unless I need to be. Sometimes that could mean 30 hours for the week, sometimes that can mean 10. But the fact that I have to be at the office for 40 hours for no reason...is mind boggling. Like when I was at the client's site waiting for them to fix something for me to continue. I literally couldn't work for about 3 entire days, that's 24 hours I did absolutely nothing, yet was forced to be in their office.

That's an internal organisational problem in your company and would be a huge red flag to an investor

We have no outside investors. I mean when I say nothing to do, I mean I am studying...but if I'm "on the bench", means there's no projects for me to go to (consulting) then what am I supposed to do lol. Also, the issue of me not doing anything at the client is the client's fault...they were paying for me to be there, haha.

Also, I just found out my manager once sent out the on-call schedule the day AFTER a month started. Someone spoke to her, and she said that she sent it out now vs. a month before was that "she used to send it out a month in advanced, but no one would read it." I think that's bullshit.

I remember reading stuff like this from a history book in middle school. There was a protest on one of the cards saying "We demand to work 8 hours a day" or something like that. I don't remember exactly what it was, but it was to prevent great depression or something along the lines.

although to be completely fair what or or anyone does isn't immoral or unethical, but they have gotten to where they are by working smart alongside working hard.

Working hard and networking are so fucking important. I've gotten to exactly where I am because of the people I've met and impressions I've made in my line of work.

Been in morning meetings all week that are lasting from 8 AM to 12 PM.

On the plus side, they're buying me breakfast sandwiches and lunch. Today I had a sausage and egg sammy for breakfast with an orange juice, and lunch was build your own tacos catered. It was pretty damn good.

sure, but there is a curve, and most people are most productive between 30-40 hours a week, then it drops off. you still might get more done to a point, but the per-hour productivity drops.

Again, this is on average.

I think I could be productive in a 15-20 hour work week. But after that im on amazon, forums, or youtube.

I do about 3 hours of work a day. But make a handful of very high dollar decisions weekly.
