The problem is in you dumbing it down to "better" - the job of the filter is to let air through and stop particles. If one lets more air through, then it is indeed filtering more efficiently which is what they were claiming. The 7 vs 10 micron thing could easily also be true. That doesn't mean that it stops MORE particles, just that it can stop smaller particles.max225 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2017 4:43 pm I was making the statement that the oem filter that used to be in his vehicle will very likely filter better. That has been proven over and over by compared to an oil gauze filter of the same size. However the oil gauze filters flow better and provide some minor power advantages as long as they are clean and maintained.
You somehow took offense to that
Those were their 2 claims. Both are likely true... yet you act like they're fucking lying because you know better.

Whole lotta dumb shit going on in this thread.
I gave up on oiled fabric filters after my MAF sensor was destroyed by one. Paper flows fine, and can hold more shit before it affects performance. When I replaced the GTI filter it was black from all the shit clogged up in it. New filter, didn't notice any power gain at all. So it wasn't a problem.
If the OEM spec's this filter then it's probably fine and I imagine there aren't any electronics that will be damaged by oil mist in the intake. But I imagine it will clog up faster since it's trapping smaller particles. Just clean it more often.

I use K&N in all my vehicles.
Never had an issues with clogged MAF's, or filling the engine up with dust.
I've used them for 50k - 100k miles in some vehicles.
Buy one, and a cleaning kit, never buy another filter for the life of the vehicle, it ain't about the performance as it is the convenience.

Yep, they don't hold their value at all. KBB is $10,200 for that 2013 with 39,000 miles, trade in value is $8600.[user not found] wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2017 7:16 pm http://www.peruzzimazda.com/VehicleDeta ... 2961166563
You can also pick up a low mileage engine out of a wrecked Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep for $1000-$1500.

Car won't start, currently waiting in a parking lot for a tow TRUCK to tow it to the dealer. Jump starting is not recommended according to the diller. So it begins.
Fuck.

They gave me a 500 Turbo convertible as a loaner, it has the same engine and transmission (if I had opted for an auto) as my car, but is tuned much differently and has a different suspension. It feels so slow, and it's super quiet since it has a muffler:
