Yeah, 50% more money and 500 lbs heavier than a Z06, with almost 100 fewer hp. No wonder it didn't sell!wap wrote:Coincidentally enough, I am currently reading my July, 2003 Road & Track and there is a road test of the then-new XLR. It based for $75,435, so yea.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:04 pm The reason the XLR was a failure was that it was ridiculously expensive new. Like $80k for the base model in 2004, when a Z06 was $50k. The "V" version was over $100k.
Some stats:
320hp at 6400 rpm
310 lb/ft torque at 6700 rpm
3660 lbs
0-60 5.6s
1/4 mile in 14s at 1.2.6 mph
Top speed 155 (limited)
.88g skidpad
235/50 R-18 tars
It had the upcoming C6 suspension.
It's a good cruiser, and a good used buy today

Northstar had Subaru-esque head gasket issues, but is otherwise a good engine. Makes decent power and feels/sounds nice and sporty in the top end like a proper DOHC design, does not rumble and shake the whole fucking car at stop lights as if a plug wire is loose 1960s style, 4/7 engine overall.

Eh, the Northstar has a chronic problem with the head bolt holes stripping. Go to replace the head gasket that's prone to failure, and you're suddenly helicoiling every head bolt hole. It's ridiculously common, and makes it pretty
Troy, I'd be really curious to hear what you think of my Ellis. Revs to 6,800 which is near peak HP of 443, not a ton of torque (380), short gearing that takes advantage of power band, cam with a mild LSA that doesn't shake like a loose plug wire, etc.
It's the least trucky of any ellis I've experienced.

It's just a engine. The LS makes more power, is more reliable, weighs less and is more compact, and IIRC gets better fuel mileage on top of it all. The Deathstar sounds better and is smoother but that's all it's got going for it.wap wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 10:48 pmSo they didn't come with a hard top option then? Too bad.troyguitar wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2018 10:15 pm
The main annoying thing about it (similar to the Skystice) is that the top takes up most of the trunk space if you put it down, so you essentially must choose between having a trunk and having a convertible. I don't think my dad has ever put the top down besides showing me how it worked when he bought it. It's otherwise always up. Dat coupe lyfe.
They do look cool and if it weren't for the slushbox they'd be fun cars. The Northstar is great in it.
I always liked the Northstar. why some here shit on it.

Dude bought a BMW 330xi wagon that was a dealer loaner for $265/mo all in, $700 drive off. 24mo / 10k miles. BMW has a $3k lease incentive right meow that apparently applies to dealer loaner cars.

Yours is probably good, especially since you have a reasonable exhaust.Detroit wrote:Eh, the Northstar has a chronic problem with the head bolt holes stripping. Yea it seems like it would be a nice car for a (not me) experiencing their mid/late-life crisis.troyguitar wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 12:22 amYeah, 50% more money and 500 lbs heavier than a Z06, with almost 100 fewer hp. No wonder it didn't sell!wap wrote:

I'd sell the STI and drive that for $265/mo NFG. Throw in wheel and tire insurance, and damage coverage and off into the sunset with in the back seat and bike on the roof.max225 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 12:40 pmThat's pretty good! 10k miles is low... but perhaps a good turo car!Johnny_P wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 12:00 pm https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/2017-bmw ... x/32217/31

Would take this over any modern Aston. The engine is a fucking work of art. Superb exhaust note on these.

That's very interesting looking... kind of like a Mustang clone that fucked a XJ jag. Is it base on the jag?Davestr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:22 pm Would take this over any modern Aston. The engine is a fucking work of art. Superb exhaust nite on these.

There are receipts for $101,949.54, not including the initial cost of the car.
