VW's are the best worst cars for us who can't commit. They tick all the boxes, but the depreciation is so terrible that when it's traded in a year or two because of "life changes" or whatever we construct to justify that you lose your ass.

I would not get another VW. No way. Even though I like them a lot.

and this is why I will not get a brand new german car again, unless I lease.

If you can find a V6. Most are 4-bangers.

The V6 ones I've heard are fast.

I warshed my car. Gas company was doing some fuckery on my block so the entire street was open. I parked in front of my house and doggie and I washed it.

Damage is only the roof from what I can tell.

Looks good clean.

I've got neither the space, nor the cash, nor the time to properly store and maintain anything that I'd actually want to keep forever at this point. That's a bare minimum of $100k cash plus 3+ car climate controlled garage/shop and a lot of extra cashflow+time in insurance+maintenance. Maybe in 10 (yeah right, try 20) years that'll be reasonable, not today.

That being said, I could see potentially rocking a low mileage FRZ/RX8 type of thing as a DD for quite a long time - i.e. however long it takes to get to that point of having the 3+ car garage and time+cash for a Lotus+Vantage setup or something. Having only one new-ish stock-ish car that is garaged would make it pretty easy to keep pristine in the meantime instead of trying to keep 2 old beaters running while one rots away outside.

I was hoping that I'd "get" the whole convertible thing after owning one, but I'm 10k miles in now and am still not a fan. The car's amazing for autox, but the wife hates riding in it and it sucks when the temperature is above 70 or below 55.
