-Preference for automatic and larger motor
-Street parkable so 180" in length or less is desirable
-Needs at least a back seat, back doors would be ideal
I also can't deal with cars that have horrible body control. The older Wranglers and Panther frame cars are totally out of the picture. Older SUVs might too. Too much swaying or floaty suspension will cause me to barf even if I'm driving.

Although a stupid cheap lease with damage protection isn't out of the picture.

Pay extra for excessive damage up front and it's probably fine.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:33 pmLeasing a car then owning it in the city seems risky.[user not found] wrote:

Yeah an older Forester isn't a bad idea if you don't mind manual transmission. I'd prefer no MT. And the 4AT older Foresters are dog slow. Same price-ish gets you into a Mazda CX5 so that's something to consider too.Calvinball wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:26 pmForester would be better than Outback.Davestr wrote:

Old car and reliability is lacking on these. They're expensive to fix because parts are and the electrical systems are very convoluted on these making them a bear to own used. I wouldn't pick an older Volvo over an IS350 or G37.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:37 pm Also: Volvo S60.

GF leased her Tiguan. It got backed into once, tiny black scratch on black car she won't have to pay anything for the damage. IIRC it was like $200/mo or so with minimal drive off and down payment of like $1200 or something.Detroit wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:36 pmPay extra for excessive damage up front and it's probably fine.[user not found] wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 12:33 pm Leasing a car then owning it in the city seems risky.

On MINI it'd safeguard you up to $5k of damage, including windshield and a set of tires at the end of the lease.

I think I'm getting close enough to over the hump on that front I should perhaps just stick it out instead of going fullDetroit wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 10:07 amThe key is to have a DD/bad weather vehicle you don't hate. Then it's not so much a desire to but looking forward to driving the other car again. I miss driving my but that just makes me more excited for April when I can bring the bish out again. In the interim, I just hoon the Hoontruck and enjoy it quite a bit.
I've been working on car shit almost constantly since April, between getting the out of here, getting the MR2 purchased and sorted, and now getting the Vibe sorted... I don't have time to keep doing that every single week. At this point the MR2 needs nothing except for wheel+tire setup decisions to be made. Vibe needs driver's seat swap to be re-done with the good ebay seat and then to figure out the Celica steering rack swap in the spring. That should be the end of working on crap for another year or two.
I'd almost certainly spend less over the next few years to back to a single $10k car - Doing nothing but adding gas and oil to an RX8 and then swapping wheels twice a year for winter is quite appealing, even if it ends up being cash neutral from all the extra gas.

is fun and exciting, doe. No farts or unfamiliar farts are always more fun than the same old farts.
Ain't no gonna keep the same stuff for eternity, and the cars that I actually like are only getting older and harder to find in good condition.

Filed claim but they haven't called me to set up a meeting. Lady said someone will call me by 5PM tomorrow to set it up.
Debating if I even care where they do the work. I will end up this car sooner than later. There's no fucking point to being an auto enthusiast in this place and parking that much money on the street.
