That passenger door was pretty bad. The 1500 grit wetsanding sounds scary. Tell me about it.

Prima Epic. It’s the synthetic wax I’ve used for years now.

Do you even Zilspec?

Just ordered a bunch of Megs goodies.

2 gallon combos of -
  • D155 Spray Detailer
  • D101 All Purpose Cleaner
  • D140 Wheel Brightener
Also 1 Gallon of D156 Synthetic Spray Wax to use as a drying aid and a TUF SHINE Tire Brush. I ran out of Sonax Full Effect and the BBSs are looking a little gross. :disappoint:

I was removing the wax haze. AKA finishing the job. :jizz:
Also, I'll take the bottle of Epic off your hands if you don't have a use for it. Lemme know.
You got it. Got a bottle of Amigo too. Just pm me your address.

So I forgot to clay before giving the car it's first wax a month or so ago. After washes I've just been using quick detailer to finish.

Will the clay still be effective if I try it this weekend?

Do you need to clay? If the surface is perfectly smooth and free of imperfections there is no real point.

Maybe. Winter was pretty messy so it's probably a good idea. I usually do it twice a year. Once before winter and once after.

What I really need to do is compound and polish. I'm swirled like crazy.

Bring your own pads and wax and you're welcome to come down and do a detail day.
I might take you up on this after we move at the end of the month. :notbad:

Lake country pads are what I use - you don't need anything crazy. Just make sure you get the right pad for the right use. Firmer pad for harder cuts, softer for wax/sealant.
:like:

I'll hit you up before I buy anything for a good wax job on the :truk:

Overkill, honestly - claying is a huge PITA. I'd just clay after winter, and apply wax, and then apply wax and sealant before winter.
Do you think I need to polish it after the clay? I can't remember which pad I used for the last polish but I have a bunch of them. All uber pads.

My main problem is the sun. I'm hesitant to leave product on there for long as the car can get very hot. In the 10 seconds it takes for me to go get the leaf blower after washing the car I've already got spotting.

You'll still need to prep it, I don't know how your paint was delivered, but you'll need some degree of polish work, then a garage to put it on. It is a :waxer: concept widely adopted by a number of forum members, Detroit and myself being the most prominent.

Z doesn't do this but that's because he's addicted to paint correction.

Yeah. I wanted to do it to the Forks when I first got it, then I didn't, and now it's too late. Needs too much correction now.
I know but your theory that CQuartz should only be reserved for new cars is incorrect, IMHO. I polished a 12 year old truck to a mirror shine and put that shit on and it looks tight. A lot of new cars have paint issues, particularly orange peel.

I don't think he wants to do correction on the bro forks which is why he's not going to cquartz it.

I've wondered about trying that stuff on my car. It needs a major detailing and that would be the time to apply it. :iono: :doe:

The cheapo spray wax stuff for $25/gal on Amazon seems to be pretty decent and easy to use. What do you do to clean off bugs and stuff when you're on cquartz?
