She was t-boned 3 months into ownership. Driver's door got ripped off by the crash support structure on the car that hit her. Door came in and crushed her left hand before the car spun around.
That's right. Brutal.. I'd hate to live with that car after that too.
I still can't believe it wasn't totaled instantly.

My guess would be that Chris took some time off because he has read the dialogue on this page 1,345 times and decided to spend some of his free time doing something besides beating a horse to death.

I would kill myself before paying $31K for a Renegade.
he paid no where near that. Also it would make a great car for the daughter at $270 a month pre tax.
Breh would rather put his daughter in a rolling status symbol V8 Benzo and take the full experience dealing with a fully depreciated German exotic's "maintenance" requirements than be seen in an orange trendy jelly bean.

He already did that with the CLS550... with not so great results...

It'll work out better this time for sure.
He's and not so he'll be just fine.

It was fixable and had no structural damage. I pushed to fix it. $18k to fix, totaling it required $24k, given the car was still brand new. I had Mini sign off on the car as safe to fix before and after the repairs.
Just got an email from my Jeep dealer
Lease a jku sport for 149 a month with 4K down. That comes out to 249 a month... maybe I should just do that and Turo the thing ... it’ll likely pay for itself

What could possibly go wrong? Turo provides insurance, right? So if Guadelupe offroads it into a shopping cart corral you're covered?

I mean I doubt someone would totally wreck the jeep and if they do... It isn't like it is riding on 20" wheels and a bone-jarring suspension with no front ground clearance.

Automatic WranGAYler Sport for cheap is the best Turo bet. No wheels to curb, shifts to botch, performance to hoon. At $250/month you could make real profit I think. They rent for $60+ per day, so at like 25% utilization you'd be doing fine. It's likely a hassle though, meeting primer, all that.
The thing about Turo is that most people expect to be picked up at the airport somehow. I can't leave work randomly to go drop a car off at the airport and then take a cab back. It's just not remotely worth it.

Yea that seems like it may be a bit of an issue. However, I am a $20 uber from 3 major airports.

So, you're OK leaving work at any random time to pick someone up from the airport and Uber back because you're "only $20 away"?

I’m not and if they rent it for a week at $100 hell yeah brother
So what, $500? That's borderline not worth my time. I also don't have the flexibility with work. I'm in a ridiculous amount of meetings.

Yea... It isn't ideal... that's for sure. I am relatively close to a lot of major transit doe.... The "pickup" and "dropoff" situation always caused a bit of confusion for me as well.

Just trying to have my cake and eat it too...
Yea, I dunno man. I just don't see how it's worth the hassle in the end. I looked into it quite a bit.

Yea similar to air bnb. Except the going rate for the vehicle is around the same as a 1 night stand (giggidy) but you don't have strangers pissing and shitting in your home. Hopefully they don't do the same in your car.

You never know, doe. And I really wouldn't want to be reliant on Turo paying for damages easily. It just seems like way too much risk. People or idiots.

It seems that if you get something basic (i.e) heep, not much can/will break.
Can't really curb the wheels
Can't get door dings because the body is set behind the fenders
cheapish to fix
cheapish plastic interior
Can't really fuck the bumper up over a curb either

Buying a new car to Turo it and make money off it is
To do it right, you need to make it your only or almost your only job. Great for someone retired with some dosh to spread around on a few cars and Turo them out.....

How about buying a new car to use on a handful of occasions when it makes sense, snow, desert trips etc, and having some sucker pay for it for the rest of the time?
