My sister moved to Dubai last summer. I'd like to get out there eventually.

We got a gift card to a nice hotel in Jim Thorpe, to go spend a weekend mountain biking. That'll probably be the spring.

Debating a trip for Xmas out to Wales again

We did the whole thing through a travel agent to have all the transportation set up for us. We'll travel all over both islands - yes, including Hobbiton - to make the most out of the trip!
That sounds awesome, escaaping the cold and all . Plus new Zealand.
+1 Im small and will fit in a decent size suitcase. I dont eat much and clean up well. TAKE me to New Zealand please :)

When will you be ready?
Depends on what happens with career shit. Ideally this September/October, but not if we're moving or putting down epic amounts of money on a :haus:

Can't book flights when you don't know where you'll live, either.
Hope you can make it happen.

100% for sure:
* TOTD in August

Strong yes:
* Seattle/Portland/PacNW possibly twice
* DC area to visit fam, prob. at least twice, maybe piggybacking off NYC work trips

Reach:
* Iceland for Secret Solstice music festival
* Friend invited me to tag along on their Tokyo trip
* Visit friends currently living in Berlin for a year

I'd like to do something international this year, but am not sure what or when. Very much in a "fuck planning" mindset in 2018 which doesn't bode well for international travel. Got to get that passport renewed too.

I'm hoping some kind of NC thing works out for awhile, then she'll have enough experience (and a Manager title) on the resume to be able to change companies if she ends up needing to move to NY or Asia to stick with Corning.
Good luck man. I could see you really enjoying Asia (well the places I have been) for a relatively short stint. 6 - 10 months or so I think you'd love it.
With Troys luck he’d end up in India

Departed Dubai yesterday. A couple snaps. Nice flight on Emirates again. Dubai was insane. Love the place. Its just an event/fun filled locale. Golf, beach, sport of all kinds, shopping, eating and enjoying being in a Middle Eastern/Arab culture with few of the restrictions you would find in a place like Saudi. People are great as most are from somewhere else to begin with. Its clean and relaxing. Worth it if you want to enjoy something different. Winter is probably the best season or early spring before the heat kicks in.

Hong Kong is glorious today...................so good to be here again.

Pics are
- Dubai sunrise
-Taxiing in our A380 next to another A380 as we prepare for takeoff
-Good morning pic from Hong Kong.
Time to get outside. :like:

Going to the fap in May is my only planned trip this year. Might fit in a few local trips here and there. Went to Leavenworth last weekend, I’d LOVE to go back soon.

More and more it just sounds like :sass: excuses to not :doit: I guarantee you that if you immerse yourself in the language by going there, after just a couple days you'll surprise yourself with how much you remember. Plus, the locals will 5/7  you for just trying and will gladly help you when necessary. I've seen this happen with other people and other languages that they were very rusty with.
except that french people are racist as fuck, especially now towards americans thanks to our cheeto.

:bruh: French people have issues. They may hate the Cheeto on the outside, but the ever so egalitarian white folks in France are not too thrilled about the immigration tide from across the Med. They are certainly tired of having terrorist attacks. A conflicted lot at the moment.

Nah man, they still love and acknowledge our assistance in WWII, certainly more than the average Murican does toward them for their help in us gaining our independence. There is a Franklin Roosevelt Avenue in Paris off the Champs-Elysses. The American cemetary at Normandy (I have not seen it myself but have friends who have) is still hallowed ground there. They've been nothing but friendly, no, warm, to me and the missus each time we've been there.

It's been 12 years for me (damn, that went fast), but I have friends and family who've been there within the last 3-5 years and had the same experience as me.

go back! It's an awesome city.

Don't listen to other people. Go yourself and form your own opinion. The French were some of the nicest people we've ever met in Europe. Just don't be an "Ugly American". But you're an experienced international traveler so you should have no problem.

Well... it will be, as usual, a lot of travel this year, probably 35ish states or so as usual for work related things. Most exciting on the work travel front for me is British Columbia. I went to Montreal and Toronto this year for the first times, but never visited Vancouver, so I'm looking forward to that.

Stuff with the gf/outside work:

Las Vegas (with friends and also later with gf)
Driving trip from Seattle to San Francisco or thereabouts
Tail of the Dragon
Ireland (wedding) with side trip to Switzerland, France, Netherlands

I'm sure we'll also take various mountain/beach trips (already been to the mountains once this year) to places like Asheville, Charleston, Savannah, Outer Banks, Lineville Gorge, etc.

I'm also thinking I may do a solo trip to Yosemite.

Likely more to come as well, probably some other weekend trips with the gf to different cities later on in the summer/fall.
