I cannot believe how much fun my car is now since everything was fixed. I wonder how long the fuel injectors were bad for. The tires...wow. I can whip around corners even better now, and take off easier when at a lower speed. Plus the v2.4 APR Stage 1 update...it's crazy how much more oomph there is when going 65mph and you floor it. There used to be so much lag. ALSO, Sport mode is...fixed! There's no more clunkyness. The car brakes like normal as if driving in D. You used to feel very harsh gear changes when braking in Sport mode. I also noticed there's no random tiny RPM spikes when idle that there used to be.

Posting videos of before and after carbon cleaning shortly.

I highly recommend anyone who has a Stage 1 APR tune to get the free update to 2.4. Even if you're at 1.0 or 2.1.

According to APR, they fixed the following: https://www.goapr.com/news/2016/12/13/v ... 888-gen-1/

- DSG / Tip Tronic shift quality
- Reduced startup engine roughness
- Reduced idle RPM fluctuations
- Increased engine braking
- Tighter boost control, reducing unintended oscillations
- Increased horsepower and torque limits in 5th and 6th gear
- Improved throttle mapping
- Improved manual transmission throttle feel at take-off and low speeds
- Addressed Tip Tronic support tickets

It's been a good and productive morning for me so far. :dock: , showered, got Lyft to the airport with cool stand up comedian driver, bag made it on at 48 pounds, got ham, egg, and cream cheese on a :jalapenis: bagel.

Now I'm on a plane.

Did a bit more research. Sears has a deal right now for the same tires, being sold at $124.19 per tire! I called VW and see if they can price match. If they can, just gonna have the work done there. They have to call me back. :)

http://www.sears.com/continental-extrem ... 544803000P

Sears even has free installation if you buy four tires, but scheduling that would be a pain...don't even know if I trust them doing that.
Good call. They just might price match.

Hey, can you post the video here of your cleaned valves?
Hiya, before and after videos of the carbon cleaning are below. The valves looked quite nasty. :) Enjoy!

Yay direct injection. The better fuel mileage is partially offset by the $600 sandblasting.

Do all direct injection vehicles need carbon cleaning? Sandblasting?

They sandblasted your engine to clean it

Only the earlier gen DI engines need this. A la VW, BMW, Ford, Subaru's FA20 turbo, etc. For whatever reason it seems Mazda has figured it out well enough their cars don't need cleaning. Unsure about others.

no. And most don't ever if you actually drive the car.
