Is it really worth the time and effort for the car? Or, the better question being, what are you planning to do with this car? If autox, track, etc. why bother with paint?

The paint is chipping and starting to rust underneath, for longevity, it's going to need to something. It's garage kept, so it's not a 'right now' thing, but it's going to need to be addressed. Also, it will help resale down the road, as E30 prices increase, it's worth looking into IMO.
Also, I want a nice looking street/autox car.
But for now, it's getting held off until later.

Paint work is expensive anymore.

Ah okay, you have mentioned rust in a couple places; wasn't clear to me how prevalent an issue it might have been.

Under the paint, it's surface shit, light sand and it's gone. There is a spot under the windshield that's probably going to need some repair, and a hole in the trunk floor that I'll patch like I did but the battery bay.stripethree wrote: ↑Tue Mar 06, 2018 11:04 am Ah okay, you have mentioned rust in a couple places; wasn't clear to me how prevalent an issue it might have been.
Those are the rust issues I know of thus far. I plan on painting everything the suspension touches, and all suspension components when I do that.

So I called around to a few more places, and got some much more reasonable quotes to paint.
One was 's buddy, whom he was going to use to paint the car. Going to meet with him sometime next week, to discuss, and move forward from there.
Hoping to be around $2,000 all said and done.
Onto important matters, I was thinking of Estoril Blue. I'm the blue is my thing, but, I've always loved the Orange the 1-Series M came in, and I think I'll go with that.
B44 Valencia Orange Metallic.

I'll be fine with it, and with that being over blue talk. Blasphemy.
I think the orange will be more interesting. Silver wouldn't be bad either.
As far as the price, the guy does this in his own shop on the side, and we haven't even talked numbers yet, just going off of what told me.
But no, this would be me taking all the shit off the car, and him doing all the sanding and painting.
He said he enjoys the sanding part, I said I didn't, an agreement was quickly reached.
