Vanity plates in TX are :waxer:, but I do have the old R32 ones from AZ in the garage. Long live R8DARR and DSPR32.

Awww shit, R8DARR is available in Texas. $150 for 1yr, $400 for 3, $450 for 5. Yikes.

Unfortunately, I discovered fuel pissing out of the carb vent tube. Likely a float issue that I created when I pulled the bowl off to check for debris in the bowl.
oh look. reason #159 why i sold KTM.

I probably bent the tap on the float that closes the bowl jet when I was inspecting the carburetor for debris.

That’s weird. There’s nothing holding the pin in on this carb either other than the shape of the bowl prevents it from walking out.

Also have spare Mikuni that I’ll try to tune this spring. The PO never got it working correctly, but as far as I can tell he’s got the stock carb over-jetted as well. He was at 5k feet and the bike is still rich for Indiana. Makes the bike easy to start :doe: - 1 kick with no choke :impressive:

:butwhy:
XR650R oil sump is in da frame.

It’s pretty critical that you monitor the oil level on these bikes, and it’s a pain in the ass to check with the OE dipstick, so I installed a sight tube.
