I don't know that I'm the best person to ask that. From what I know, it does some things very well that other planes didn't do before it. It also does a lot of things very poorly that planes before it did very well. Is that trade off worth it? No clue. Is the program bloated and bleeding money? Absolutely. The amount of money that's wasted/blown on that program is unreal, and that's just coming from my very limited in-the-weeds view of the program.

Makes perfect sense. An apt description of the F35, for sure. :like:

That thing was awesome. Mach 3+ heavy strategic bomber. Never got built, :doe:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Ame ... 0_Valkyrie
Valkyrie was capable of cruising for thousands of miles at Mach 3+ while flying at 70,000 feet (21,000 m).
At these speeds, it was expected that the B-70 would be almost immune to interceptor aircraft, the only effective weapon against bomber aircraft at the time.

Looking around some fleet sites, believe its the first one to service Newark.

Those wing tips though. wow.
Saw one in Munich about 3 years ago. They're :mindblown: big in person. O'Hare is supposed to be able to handle them soon. Looking forward to seeing one fly over my house. I'm on a flight path.
Actually surprised Chicago doesn't have them already.

First, as :[user not found]: noted, I was referring to the A380, the giant double decker Airbus.
I'm kinda surprised, too. O'Hare is certainly giant enough and we just built several brand new runways. Maybe that's what we were waiting for - the new runways.

United isn't flying them and has no plans to so I'd be skeptical of ever seeing one at O'Hare. The other part is the take up three gate slots so the costs are yuggeeee at an airport that isn't specifically equiped for them.
Lufthansa, SAS, LOT, British Air, Swiss Air, and several other major European airlines fly into O'Hare so it's only a matter of time, especially with our new runways.

I’m a Boeing snob. 737 for domestic travel or :gtfo:

Southwest’s newer 737-800 is actually :notbad: Seats and legroom are an improvement over the previous iterations.

I don’t mind the difference between Airbus and Boeing. Most flights I’ve been on with Delta, Jet Blue or American Airlines were A320. I did fly in an A320-NEO once. They’re gorgeous inside & out.

Friend of mine just got hired by Spirit after doing regional for Delta and American through a “contractor” airline.

Happy to see him on the road to the big ones and Spirit is definitely a step in the right direction.

I do prefer Boeing on long haul flights but I’ve never been on A380. My friend was on Luf’s A380 when flying into MIA last year.

Also, Soviet’s tried to build a Concord and it didn’t work out so well.

Interesting video:
