In celebration of the beater

When I was 18, I bought my first car: $800 in crumpled up ones bought me a 1970 Fiat Spyder. I loved that car more than any object I've owned before or since. It was a piece of shit, and I was James Fucking Bond. I have spent a lifetime, and larger and larger sums of money trying to rekindle that le...

Anyone been to Yosemite?

Yosemite is the jewel of the planet. Period. No disappoint. Your timing is a little early, however. There are a number of attractions in Yosemite, and it's too early in the year to see most of them. The main valley will be open, and the roads clear. That is the glammiest and most jarring of the vist...

First, a couple of level setting points. All the below is based on several decades of research funded by ASIS (the security management professional organization), the Society of Human Resource Management, and the .gov. Most of the research has been conducted at PhD level psychology and criminal jus...

Melon's E30 Thread.

Congrats! E30s are NOT overrated. I had a 87 325is. Bought it with 170k miles, sold it with 230k miles. Nothing broke. Nothing. Brake pads tires and fluids. I've had a lot of cars, and that was a top 5, without a doubt. I've posted this before (in the old DFD), but I'll repost. I did a build for a n...

Enter Dude's Latest Tire Kicking Sesh here

Looks-n-sounds like R is in great shape. Keep, don't trade (especially for something else used): it's the devil you know and love. When you add to the stable, let it be something completely different. Despite being the most geezerly DFDist, my first impulse was something less practical than a sensib...

Talk British to me: All things MINI

:dat: It's embarrassing. I would put on my best pair of Jox (Mom wouldn't buy me Pro Keds), parachute pants, and sleeve-rolled-up Members Only, and trick Nicki Miller into letting me finger pop her in the back of Spencer Gifts. Yeah. Class. Nicki was hot AF doe. Yeap. http://runt-of-the-web.com/wor...

Talk British to me: All things MINI

We'll go wander aimlessly around the mall to get out of the house during the winter. :iono: As did we at your age. Get back to me in a few dozen decades and let me know how you feel then. ;) :dat: It's embarrassing. I would put on my best pair of Jox (Mom wouldn't buy me Pro Keds), parachute pants,...

Talk British to me: All things MINI

To be fair I think it looks alright but then again I never really had an issue with the F56 styling in general. I think Mini/BMW needed to uncork the engines a bit, make the MT better, make the car more exciting to drive through sound or who knows what. They also didn't do a damn thing to the inter...
